Hood Stack Poll

With the final touches being completed on the hood stack application. We were curious on what size to focus on first. 7" set ups, 6" set ups, 5" set ups...or all 3? Maybe 5" will be too small? Any type of feed back would be great, so lets hear it...also please choose what you feel would best suit your application.

willtravel 01-18-2010 08:16 AM

I'm looking for a 6"

BPhips5 01-18-2010 08:27 AM

6 inch would be the best all around. some guys will want to run 7 i imagine. 5 seems a lil small for a hood stack.

crzycowboy 01-18-2010 08:29 AM

I would agree with the 5" being a bit small...but when it comes to racing weight is an issue. 5" is a few pounds lighter, and could make a difference in the quarter mile I would think.

morkable 01-18-2010 08:41 AM

I wouldnt think it would even be a full pound lighter would it? And to be honest, these trucks are already really heavy, I dont think that the pound extra will make a whole big difference

crzycowboy 01-18-2010 08:53 AM

You'd be surprised. A 5" x 36" miter cut stack weighs in at 11.2lbs. A 6" x 36" miter stack weighs in at 16.8lbs. There is a difference there. I'll have to have the guys get me some weights on these things so it can be more official..but I believe there could be a 2-7 pound difference between the diameters.

morkable 01-18-2010 08:58 AM

Wow,, who would have guessed. That is good info Josh. I might be more interested in the 6 inch then,, LOL

Luken 01-18-2010 09:24 AM

I'd run a 6" or 7" but I think 5" is to small...

SSpeeDEMONSS 01-18-2010 11:06 AM

i vote 6" and 7".

I Will Kick The Guy In The Nuts That Runs A 36" TALL Stack Out Of His Hood...lol Jk

I Would Be Interested In A 6 Or 7

crzycowboy 01-18-2010 01:23 PM

:hehe: No..the stack it self will be 20" over all. This will allow it to be trimmed at the bottom if needed. The one that is on our proto-type set up was 18" overall length. The guys liked it, and said it worked just fine.

The application is universal...designed to be applied to any hood at the location of the owners choice. Plumbing from the turbo to where the stack is placed is up to the owner too. We can supply the tubes needed to plumb it, but can not tell you what is the "right" way to install it.

Sounds good! Take plenty of pictures...we'll need them for any fine tweaks and what not. How did you guys like that gasket? Think it will help?

LOL that's diameter son...not length! .... LOL :hehe:

That's something I hope I can do more of this year...listen and try and bring the products you the racers and pullers want or need for exhaust systems or set ups.

Good deal.

Ok so I need some insight on what type of mounting hardware you'd like to see. Would you rather see a flush mounted screw/bolt, or a button head screw/bolt? (think of a beadlock on a wheel, that type of look) We are getting closer to completion here, and these are the final things we need to have figured out. So if you could please give me your insight, that be great!

If you could countersink the holes in the mounting ring (assuming the mounting flange is thick enough) that would look the cleanest IMO.
