Column Shifter Delete?

I'm currently re-assembling my dash in my 04 to convert it over for EFI and the 6.7 and I'll be running a full manual vb with a TCI outlaw shifter. While assembling the steering column back I got to wondering if it would hurt anything to just unplug the column shifter and remove it off the column completely since it won't be needed anymore.

So does anyone know if this will throw codes or cause anything to go haywire by removing it?

Thanks in advance for the help

On the second gens if you take the plastic shell off its a c clip holding shifter onto arm. Should be a similar setup. Pull shell off and check it out. Wont hurt anything
