to much smoke

Seriously somebody is going to post a picture of my truck in the idiot coal roller thread lol.
It's a little imbarassing to fog out 3 lanes of traffic while merging.
Some back story on the pump: while I had the engine out I took the pump ( 190? The truck was a auto) to have it bench flowed. They balanced it and tweaked it a bit for max flow. They also put a fuel plate back in it. The afc was already modified with the washer and shaved down afc foot. I'm not sure we're the star wheel and smoke screw are set.

So basically under normal acceleration I'm getting a haze. If I lug it any little bit it churns the smoke out. Seems that the turbo is lagging and will not make any boost untill 2k. Even after the turbo lights it still Dosnt clean up the smoke much. From what I'm learning it should be a grey haze at that point.
Just because it has 4k governer spring Dosnt mean it will make power up untill 4k rpms right. Seems to me if feels like it quits right over 3k. Almost like hitting a rev limiter. The exhaust note even changes at that point. I can hit 50 lbs of boost but the egts climb pretty fast though.
I am still learning the tuning on these 12v so please bare with me. I'm not sure what injectors are in it other then they are 100hp. Pretty sure they said 589 on them.
Am I overfueled, not enough air, need to go back to the drawing board with the afc settings?
Any help is much appreciated.

What turbo do you have? 68mm doesn't tell us much. I would start by backing the pre-boost all the way out till it's just making contact, and go from there. You may also need a stiffer AFC spring, but I would focus on the pre-boost for now. But even when you get it tuned good, that turbo might not want to be below 2000 rpm...

I figure the star wheel and screw need adjusted I was just more or less looking for a starting point. I guess I need a little better understanding of how the afc works as far as preboost fuel goes. To much fuel causes the turbo to spool slower or later?

I'm not sure what turbo I have. Was only told 68mm. I know it has a t4 flange on the exhaust side and is not gated. It's a borg warner. If I have to go to a compound set up I will. I wouldn't even think about towing with this truck yet.

Ok good deal I am going to do my homework. It's been a fun ride so far. I really need to find out what turbo I have.

A couple quick tips on tuning. If it smokes below 10 pounds of boost, or before the turbo lights, you likely need less smoke screw. If it smokes after 10 PSI, or after the turbo lights, you need more star wheel.
None of this is exact, but it's a good place to start, also, read up, there is a metric crap ton of info on pump tuning out there.

:hehe:Yea, but he said it won't light under 2,000 rpm. I bet it's a box 66. Edit: Unless it is the .88.
