Looking for Retro stereo, or at least something that won't look like a light show.

I have the Bose, with cassette in a 2000 LS, door speakers are shot and as the only viable replacement is the Clearwaters at $300, I am thinking of just getting all new, trash the bose head unit/Cassette and Amp and just put a modern unit in there, my only gripe is that 99% of the units out there look like they should be in a 2019 car, not a 2000 with some classic lines, it would really kill the look of the interior doing that. There are a couple of "retro" units out there but they demand high dollar, anyone done a whole set up that looks like it belongs in the sub $500 range? That would be in dash stereo and speakers. I could go single or double din. I hear there is a storage cubby that can fit in the single din to tie up the space, but I haven't found a good link yet, may have to hit the used market for that. Love to hear and see what others have done.

Does the bose have the amplifier packs on the speaker?

If this is the limitation, would he be possible to run SoC amplifiers on each of the replacement speakers and retain the bose?

I haven't researched what you're dealing with (yet) so I may be way off.
