2016 Cummins purchase

So I've been flirting with the idea of buying a new truck to replace my 99 F350. After realizing Ford is out of their damn minds with their pricing I decided to look at Cummins. Wow you get a lot more truck for your money going with Ram. I'm pretty sure I am going to go with a 2016 Tradesman in a CCSB 4X4.

So hopefully yall can answer some questions I have.

I just recently was told about the Aisin transmission. I was told you can only get it in a 3500 but through my research it appears it doesn't come standard in the 3500? I've read good and bad reviews on both the Aisin and the 68rfe. One fear I have of the Aisin is the inability to tune or rebuild the trans.

Depending in which truck I get the tires will be 33s on 18s or 30s on 17s. Has anyone upgraded to a 33x12.50 on a 20x12 and if so was there a drastic reduction in fuel economy. I've been extremely impressed by what I've seen guys claiming on stock trucks. Another reason, other than price, that drew me to the Ram cummins. I'm realistic and do not expect Eco diesel MPG.

I've had 12v's, 24v's, and a CR. Once I sold my 05 Ram dually I quit paying attention and researching Cummins so I'm full of 6.7 newbie questions. I'll be putting my wife in this new truck and I'm going to a 12v. I appreciate the help.

My '14 g56 CCSB averaged 20mpg empty on a 600 mile trip mostly highway. Did 11-12 with a tractor and trailer on the same trip. In my opinion, the tradesman are very nice for being the low buck truck. I only wish I had adjustable pedals cause I got short legs.

Thanks for the response. I really thought about the 6speed. Decided to just do an auto instead. Everything I've owned the last few years has been standard. It'll be nice to just hope in and go. Lol

I know what you mean, but I prefer to tow with a standard. The 68rfe that I rode in confirms what you read, very wierd shifting. The worst about the standard is the torque management and that it is de rated to 350/660. It is the slowest 350hp I have ever driven lol.

I do really enjoy the truck, and I know when I get it tuned I will enjoy it 5 times as much. I honestly can't see paying the extra money for the gizmos and stuff in the laramies and higher trims. I have power windows, locks, mirrors, and cruise control, what else do you really need?

Yeah I'm actually driving to Fort Worth right now to pick it up in the morning. 44k out the door. I'm not upset about it.

Thats not a bad deal at all. Enjoy your new truck!
If you havent left the dealership yet you should grill them about lowering your tpms pressures. My light is on all the time because it wants 80 psi in the rear tires! Which makes it ride like a pack mule and is terrible on tires

Just asked the sales lady to get that done for me. Thanks for the heads up. What PSI are you running?

60 up front and 60 in the rear. Seems to do pretty well, even with a loaded trailer. You'll be lucky if they do anything about it. Idk about the new ones, but my truck is pretty much SOL with that dumb tpms light.
