Possible compressor swap. Thoughts please

Super happy with the 62/71/13 over a 75/96/1.15. 95 12v, quick rate 12mm pump, 5x16 injectors. However, like all of us i get a little bored. I make right at 70psi and have tuned and tuned. I can move the boost around from turbo to turbo but max i only get 25psi from the primary and right at 70psi total. So here is my question. If i were to swap from the 75 to and 80mm while changing nothing on the exhaust side. I should have very similiar spool with noticeable amount more pull up top? Right? Anybody ever done this change? Worth my time? Again the truck runs super. I would just like a little more primary boost but if i cant get that might as well move more air at a lower psi.

I went 66/480 to a 66/488sxe knock off, same 366 and same turbine and housing on the primary. I noticed lower overall boost, but way more up top pull much like hitting nitrous. Same engine setups just changed compressor sizing.

How much did your primary boost fall off?

Saw this same result, buddy went to a 488sxe primary and dropped like a half second quarter mile times.

very similar response in boost? I tow with this truck so I have no need for a large interstage wait. you two make me want to try this more now. lol

His is just a toy, was a low 11sec truck and wanted to get into the 10's.

I do not plan on givingbthis thing anymore fuel and because of that im sure thats why ive hit this wall.

how terribly stupid is this option? just found an 85mm s400 that will bolt right up. how quickly would that kill a little 62mm secondary?

I bought the 85. Got it in today. Its got some problems. Should he able to get stuff in working order pretty soon. This thing is epically large. It dwarfs the 475. Pretty excited.

Waiting on a new air filter

jasonc 07-25-2018 06:08 PM

Make a Y pipe and run two off the shelf kn or the like filters and run two. I don't think you can buy a filter to keep up with an 85mm that actually filters the air.

Got a custom one coming from AFE. Hopefully it all fits without modifications and incan get back on the road in a few days. Kinda hoping this thing woke the truck up.

For $hits ang giggles i weighed the old and new wheels

SX475 on our mail scales was 272.15 grams
Forced inductions 85mm wheel was 362.87 grams
Way heavy. I never get to run the light wheels, always the robust ones. Lmao

Wonder what that fancy Jeb 85 wheel weighs?

Its wet and rainy but...! I gained 12 psi total boost and 10psi on the primary with only a turbo swap. Nothing else changed. Spool is slower but managable. Very impressed with the results. This poor little transmission isnt happy.

I do not know how to upload a video from my phone. Ide love too.

That's awesome man! It's always a good feeling to see tangible results. Hopefully it holds together for you.
