Truck is in sig I put clutch in about 8 months ago it has been hard to get into gear but lately it has been harder than normal to go into 2nd is kind of hard sometimes but 1st is practically impossible and reverse I have to go from 2nd to reverse to get into gear. Do I need upragraded hydraulics? When truck is off it goes into all gears easily.

I would get the upgraded hydraulics and see if it helps. Without they can be a real pain to get into gear. If the problem persists I'd pull the trans and inspect the pilot bearing as mentioned. The guys at south bend should be able to get you headed in the right direction. You may want to call them this week, I'm not sure how often they check here.

There was a southbend single disk that already had a 1 3/8 input on it. The clutch was hard to get it all buttoned with the transmission when I first installed it. I guess I'll try the new hydraulics

It should slide together no issues unless something was not installed correctly. Should fit together tight. Should not have to pull together with botls. That's how you wreck stuff.

My south bend dual disks were all hard shifting SOB. Upgraded hydraulics never helped unless the stock unit was failed for me. I always had to go to 4th gear and then to whatever gear I was starting it to get it in. Other than that wasn't in a hurry between gears.

Same here. Nothing will change it. I have had the clutch out for other reasons and it's just one of those things.

My g56 with a dd south bend is the same way. Have to put it in 4th then go to 2nd or reverse. Would a single disc make it easier? All I do is old man drive mine lol

Should I try the hydraulics or not? I just don't Wana spend 400 plus for it if doesn't make a difference

If your stock hydros are moving the arm and fully disengaging the clutch then aftermarket hydros are not going to help you.

The reason they shift slower is you have more mass spinning. Takes longer for engine and trans to approach the same speed and go into gear. Syncros help make that magic happen but they are designed for a stock clutch.

Call south bend first. Try to figure out some way to measure the movement of the slave cylinder. I'm thinking Manseil told me as long as I had an inch of travel once everything tightened up their was no need to replace the hydraulics.

My sbdd in front of my NV5600 was hard to get into gear as well. ...just recently pulled it and ordered a big single.
