my 379 build

In the red truck it basically eliminated bump steer. Ours is on a switch, you set it once and basically forget about it.

Well the guy's here are on a switch too but regulators creep. I have them in my dash to control lift axles and whenever you put the axles up or down the pressures change. I just don't see the need for one when it could be much simpler.

Every truck I've driven with those double convoluted air bags up front is horrible. Bump steer so bad you can't hold on to the wheel. The newer kits that use the AG400 KW bags seem to be better but still not fun. Every time the truck hits a bump the steering wheel turns. If you try and hold on to it the truck darts all over the road.

You can plumb it however you want but what's wrong with just using a leveling valve so you don't have to adjust the pressure? Friend insisted on using a regulator and he's always messing with it. It's either riding too high or too low.

The loadshare system came with the regulator. It seams to work pretty well once i figured out how much air i like in them. I was going to use a leveling valve on it until this came with the regulator.

The one truck here will be going down the road like a 1990's Lincoln Town car with blown rear bags and headlights pointing at the sky. Then he will bleed some off and it will be banging the bump stops with the bumper 2" off the road. I'll never understand his love for it.

I drove it down backroads to a friends paint shop and finish stripping everything else off. Im over there as mush as possible helping, which isnt very much with my work schedule. the truck is stuck outside right now until he finishes up 2 restorations hes been working on. 1 should be done this week and the other next week. So on pretty days ive been over there sanding, bondo, and pulling out dents and priming over the bondo.

I ordered these mirror brackets from weld shop LLC. They are "1 piece" design and are 2" wider to match the new style cab mounted mirrors.

Our setup doesn't have a regulator. I've got a two way momentary switch. More air, less air.

If i have that many problems out of mine i will end up doing away with the regulator and add a leveling valve.

Just a little update. its still at the paint shop getting all the body work done. I just planned on sanding it down and throwing some color on it. Told the painter I knew it wasn't going to be perfect, but he has other ideas.

Ive run an air ride by horse kit. Still run it on the weekends. Made a large difference if you ask me.

Since you can look at a horse kit you can correct me but I thought they still run double spring leafs from the axle to the front spring hanger?

Ok guys its been a while since I have been on here, but a lot on the truck has been done. it is painted now and im in the process of getting it back together. Here are some pics of the progress... let me know what you think. This will be a working truck, by no means a show truck.

Not to sure about the green stripe down the center of the hood (painters idea). after I get it all put back together its going back to him to be buffed completely and any touch up it might need from me putting it together. Might see about painting that black.

the assembly process. Every light on the truck is the dual revolution lights. They will change from red/amber to purple with a wired aux switch.

Sorry for the double pictures. These were the door handles that were falling apart.I just pulled the black plastic off, cleaned them and added a wood handle.

Here is how it sits as of right now. Not perfect but I like it.

ill post some more pictures when I get the rest of it all put together. Been chasing a wire gremlin here lately. I was driving it home and it just died. Every time you would turn the ignition on it would pop the breaker. I wiggled the wires around the starter solenoid and finally got it home. Bent all the prongs coming off the solenoid up a tad to where they weren't close to possibly grounding out. Hoping that was it because I cant find any bare wire or make it do it again and its been driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Heres a few more pics of it put together. Still lots of polishing left to do.

Looks 100% better. I just polished all the wheels on a 4 axle trailer so I don't envy you. A polisher is on my list of hated shop tools next to the air chisel and the ez out.

thank ya sir, I polished the stacks and worn out bumper last weekend and decided that was enough for right then. I have a friend who lives in town that said he would sand them and polish them for 50 a wheel. Pretty sure im going to go that route.
