I’m going to post this build thread because i didn’t see much information on this. I’m halfway into the swap.

Truck is a 1996 ram 2500 12 valve ECLB nv4500 2wd.

Parts you have that will work:
- The engine adapter plates are the same for all the transmissions 94-98
- Bell housing bolts
- Throttle bracket on the p7100 has the TV cable port and lever/connector for tv cable end
- I do believe a tps can be mounted (I’ll look and verify)

Parts you will need:
- 47rh transmission
- Flexplate
- Torque converter
- Dipstick & tube
- TQ converter bolts QTY (6) 3/8 - 24 x 5/8
- Flex plate bolts (to crank) QTY (8) thread is M12x1.25 (not sure on exact length)
- Tv cable (unless manual VB or zip tie tv lever back)
- Steering column for shifter (I’m using a rachet shifter) B&M Z Gate
- PCM & TPS (for overdrive and lockup) or toggle switches or hobb switches
- Driveshaft from automatic truck (47re has same slip yoke and both transmissions are the same length about 37” inches long.)
- ATF +4
- Transmission cooler
- Transmission fluid lines

I will update this as I go. If I left anything out I will add it later on. I will instruct how to wire switches for overdrive and lockup. Im looking forward to this project.

Everything’s been smooth sailing so far. Transmissions in just need to tighten torque converter bolts

This is a start for now on the shifter. Going to add another brace underneath center console. Maybe a cup holder or two.

Good idea on starting a thread for this swap. Keep us updated with pictures and progress.

Did you remove your aluminum housing when replacing the rear main?

47rh valvebody has 3 pins
Pin frontmost towards input is overdrive - brown
Middle pin is a 12volt supply source - green
Rear pin is converter lock up - orange

All you are doing is grounding the wire through the switches. I shared a ground on both switches and carried my ground wire to the frame. Works well.

UPDATE:

The transmission has burnt clutches somewhere. I’ve plugged the filter twice. So I’m going to remove the transmission and rebuild it. Im thinking of adding information/pictures on rebuilding it in this thread.
