Calling All 2wds....

i am planing on makeing some in oh/in/ky possible western PA pulls

plan on a big single for a rear tire with ~170" WB i might get the front off the ground

need a bigger turbo as well still got the stocker on there rigth now :bang

dont know whitch way i want to go with the tire.. 33/35 def wiiiiiiidddddeee with some stiff sidewalls possible boggers

found some 16/35x16.5 boggers 10x6 front/side ply tires tho tread depth is 13/16" deep most are under 1/2"

even if i went dual i am looking at ~750 in tires

375/55/16 run them backwards

If you run them backward they won't clean the dirt will pack in the groves tighter.what are you running that you have 170 wheel base the mod extended cab long beds only have 158 wheelbase.

sorry crew cab long box is 167.0 on the 09 specs

i do know/seen people run MT and boggers backward to get maximum traction.. with the idea if you get stuck you can grab more dirt going backwards to get you out.. were you can grabb more dirt in a scopeing "V" vs a plowing "V" setup.. maybe i am of on a wilded handle like i was bringing up 2wd sled pulling back in june 07 :bang

i dont know if any one as actually tried it. i know the guys in sand have and say there is a difference for the better... along with some of the mud bog guys

just something i am thing of

Man I tell you what, If you plan on running in KY much ditch the agressive tire and get a STS or a good AT. I was really suprised on mine. Im running uniroyal liberator ATs, and I haven't been able to spin them yet. even since I went with the 4.88 gear. I have pulled on dry hard tracks where everyone else was blowing their tires off on the line, Mine hooked right up and packed the front wheels about 20 ft out. I never would have thunk it....lol

Lynn If I remember wright I think I mentioned that you would be loading your rear tires much harder then the 4x4 trucks from the start to finish.

Adam there is a reason why the tractors don't run their tires backward plowing are pulling. They don't clean themselves. And the more agressive tire puts alot bigger pile of dirt in front of the sled. When we owned a sled we paid attintion to what tire work and didn't.The boggers never worked in Missouri and western Illinois. The claws throwes big chunks nad left large piles of dirt in fron of the sled when they are new to almost 2/3 of the tread gone when they were almost wore out did the best.
The BFG A/T left the least amont of dirt in front of the sled.
The truxus bite pretty hard and dont leave alot eather. We have Cooper St and do good.Just remember the more dirt you have in front of the sled it is like pulling a drag blade behind you.On soft tracks that could be as much as 500lb extra your pulling down the track.
Lynn has a good tread patern work well.

Dale

the better the tires hooks/less slip... end result mean less dirt is thrown at the sled correct?

basicly a nice wide AT would do well all around....

Finally!! Somebody is getting the right picture. My dad and I have been preaching that for years to new comers. We have tried a variaty of different tires and also saw other pullers do the same. The more aggresive tires such as the claws and Mud tires/boggers can get a heck of a grip on the starting line, but once the pan drops they start digging ditches and throwing more dirt infront of the sled. The ditches they dig also act as if your trying to drive over wheel choks and just slow you down. A less aggressive A/T will take alittle better technique to hook up on the starting line, but will ride on top of the ground on the far end making thierself more effecient. The reason why Open Mod trucks use cut tires is because with the large amount of HP and TRQ they have, its alot harder to get a DOT tire to hook up at all. Though if you notice, the cut tires on the Mod trucks onle have about 1/4" of tread, some even have less. This is to help keep them on top of the ground.

Correct ,I like to run Duels and not a real agressive tread the duels will stay on top of the dirt and like you stated not dig ditch's.If you have tomuch traction you will kill your motor at the end .Need to keep tire speed up all the way to the end. Then again depend on the power you have and gearing.
How many feet did Lynn gain by going to the 4.88 from the 4.10 and rpm gain.

Dale

A BUNCH!!!! lol. I'm not sure about the RPM. I know that about 250ft the tach was about 3800rpm with the 4.88's. As far as footage, I would say we gained quit a bit. He pulled 278 at Hart co. on a hard biting track and pretty much completly choked out once the pan dropped. I pulled around 290 at 23mph track speed and it did choke on the far end, but I believe it was because of the 13mm pump over fueling that PS66. Bigger and better things are yet to come for 09 though. More power, better looks, and hopefully more hang time for the front wheels, lol. I told him that at TS 09, I don't care if he gets dead last, but he WILL be the crowd favorite in more ways than just one! :rockwoot: I can't wait!!!

I'm sure you guy's going to do better you got it running very quik just to get to pull just have to get Lynn to start spending some of that old matress money on a good poted head, good big charger, good camshaft, big indevidul runner intake,Ross pistons,Fireringed, Have spent enough money yet $.02:evil Hope his wife don't read this :kick:don't forget about the smaller tires in front.and a wild paint job:cheer:

Dale

Lynn isn't married. If so he probably wouldn't know what a diesel was, lol. The only other problem would be because of the lowsy factory we work at. Job security is a joke. It sucks making good money, but being too scared to spend it because you don't know if you will be there another 5 years, or just one more day. I'm getting laid off friday, so I don't even know if I will be able to afford to pull next year myself. My truck needs quite abit of TLC on the pulling mods before I hook agian. But the main focus I have is lynns truck. I already accomplished what I wanted in my first season pulling diesels. Now its Lynns turn.

so... im a pulling vergin.... how would i get started??? i know i NEED a SBDD next, but what do i need for i good set up??

375/55/16 run them backwards

that kinda looks like a baja claw to me....

it is and says onthe sideway which is viewable:poke:

i was trying to be nice. i try not to ask people for their oponions, then be an @$$ to them. i couldnt figure out why you were talking about boggers and had a pic of a baja claw? just tryin' to makin sure you didnt end up with the wrong tire. the boggers are SOOOO much better.

The boggers don't do much here in the midwest we don't pull in sand.If I remember rite BigBadDodge tride them and didn't work at Indy a couple of years ago.different tires for differnt parts of the contry in missouri we have alot of clay tracts. We pull in Missouri,Illinois,Indiana.
