New engine build Scania DC1601 for our semi truckpuller.

We did have the engine up to about1100 to 1200Hp and 3Bar or 43PSI boost and then we blow up the flexible exhaust tubing between the turbo and the muffler system twice so tomorrow we going to modify it and hope the mufflers will not create a lot of back pressure.
Good thing is we can connect some more pressure sensors so I can log some more data to see what going on.

I finally got my turbo speed sensor installed and able to plot out the speed and boost pressure in the compressor flowmap.
Still struggling to get cylinder 5 to 8 to burn a lot more fuel, hope changing the fuel feed rail will solve it.

Well not always. It can be frustrating and it takes a lot of man hours to solve problems.
For example yesterday I was working on a 2L VW TDI and we have loads of problems with the timing sensor mounted on a flimsy support installed by a customer that is used to installed petrol ECU system and a trigger wheel on the front end of the crank pulley. This makes you think why Cummins used a timing sensor mount on the ISB or QSB engines that’s is solid bold to the engine block to prevent vibrations.
Also don’t under estimate the amount of R&D to get some engine models running but yes it great fun after when you get the job done.

Well it’s a bit more than an air filter. Most of it is safety to prevent you from sticking your finger inside the compressor (a old college had this happen while bending over an engine) and the intake cover is also there to prevent compressor wheel parts flying every where when we have a wheel burst during a run. Looks like this piece of art created by massive power. :huh::

The new build commonrail Detroit also used for semi truckpulling is ready and we hope to start it coming Monday. When that is done we going to break it in on the dyno.
The engine got a modified BOSCH commonrail system on it and the injectors can easy do 1cc per injection within a given time.

New build V12 for semi truckpulling engine for team FTF has made is madden run.
Start RPM is a bit low with only 106RPM so we had to help it a bit with the cold start but ones it fired up it run very clean considering it got very large injectors.

Next step is breaking in the engine and load testing.

A small update. We decided to go for a BorgWarner S400 turbochargers but the downside is that the turbo we want has a T4 flange and we need one with a T6. Are there any options.

Also the 87mm turbine wheel and the 1.25A/R looks a bit small as we want to run 58PSI and well over 1000Hp per turbo. Will the LDP wheel be an option and how good is it. Thing is so far with Holset we run there turbochargers less than 10% over RPM and 0.7 to 0.8 over pressure rating and they blow up after 15 to 20 seconds so we got that worked out for the last 3 years costing a lot of money and championship points so I’m a bit nervous making a decision on what turbocharger to use next year making it possible to run more power and a wider RPM range.
 
What kind of info are you looking for? There is a ton of knowledgeable people on this site that have access to garrett info. If I can be of assistance I would be happy to dig around if you have the specs you require.

For now I can not find any benefit of running a Garrett, flow maps are to narrow from what I can find on the internet so yes it would be interesting to compare some flow maps from Garrett and come to a conclusion.
 
How many pounds per minute, and what pressure ratio? Also how much turbine flow do you require? It looks like you were using hx60 based stuff in earlier pictures. If that is the case I would be leaning towards something gt50 based with garretts 82mm billet 7 bladed comp wheel. I believe they flow about 120lbs/min. A gt55's might be an option as well.

Can you get me the data from the 769210-20 and 769210-24 from Garrett? We are running a pressure ratio of 5 from the surge line way to up what the turbo can handle within his normal RPM rance.
