Question guys... what’s keeping us from flashing an older file into say like a 6nz truck and getting away from elogs? Is it gonna require a harness and ecm change or is it still not that simple?
I’m really having a hard time stomaching this deal. I will admit, I was one of those guys that thought it was gonna get kicked out this whole time. However, it doesn’t appear that way. Do we have any options?

its based on year of manufacture, not software programming. and no, im not going back full time and dealing with that E-log BS. with all the regulation and now the elog there isn't any amount of money in the world that would get me back in a truck 5+ days a week. phuck all that.

Yes but what keeps us from swapping harnesses and ecms?
The glider rule would keep us from having to have elogs correct?

may as well make a legit cat looking sticker that says "1LW, date of manufacture 6/1998" or something, that would be just as legit and easier to make. lmao

Yes but as we all know, there are a lot of engines in trucks that don’t have a serial number or anything left on them.

i honestly cant figure out how they're expecting to enforce this stupid regulation on gliders if they are running an engine older than 99, because most of the DOT cops i know are barely smart enough to know what to check for on an engine, let alone figure out what year it is. hell, if you get stopped, you could just tell them the truck is a glider, the engine was built in 1997, and they'd be none the wiser.

That’s what I’m getting at. What keeps me from pulling a few simple changes and telling them the engine is a 99?

If you weren’t a stuck up cop and text me from time to time, we could chat about this.

I was just thinking about this last night lol. You could use a 2ws number, still 70 pin.

On this whole elog debate, so is it manufacture date of the motor or registration date of the truck? The manufacture day date of the KW my dad just bought is 99, motor and chassis. But the truck is registered as a 99. The way I read the law this truck is exempt. How can they hold an OE truck to different regulations than a glider.

I don't see how any of it will be very enforceable either. My dad and I were discussing ways to prove the manufacture date of the motor. I don't see how an engine sticker can be legitimate. Next thing you know everyone is going to have a sticker on their motor with a manufacture date of 11/99. I suggested to my dad to get an original spec sheet from KW and Detroit with a manufacture date of both the engine and truck. Then you have proof from the manufacture. Not just whats on the sticker or data plate.
