Help, 6.7 main bearing question

I'm installing my crank, and the cap side thrust bearing doesn't fit the cap tightly and there is no tang to force it to center in the cap. It came out of a 4955860 set.

That's what is throwing me off. I'm not sure why this kit doesn't have the regular cap shell.

Well $&-#

From what I'm gathering, the 4955860 kit updated to 180° thrust bearing what accommodates the CR block. This is an old stock kit.

I don't understand how the kits industrial sells located the bearing? The pictures aren't high enough resolution to see a tang on them.

To update this, the OS bearing kit numbers listed in Quickserve are for 6BT engines.

The early 5.9 CR blocks, with the casting number 3953350, came with a main cap that was machined for the lower thrust bearing.
I have yet to see one with the lower thrust bearing in place, however.

As far as missing the tang, chances are that Cummins figured the upper bearing tang would retain both from spinning, but who knows for sure, with the way engineers think.

Mark.
