he351 upgrades?

I don't think I am moving enough air at 1900, the turbine is too big, and I am not spinning the compressor fast enough. I thought about a cam that would probably take care of the problem. This happens when towing about 12K.

I guess I need to fine an HE351 and start searching to see what is involved with the change.

Its not a bad swap if you have some IC pipe, some boots, clamps, and a mig welder. I really like mine.

I think it might would help you out. The little HE351 will probably be screaming at 1900rpm, so i think it should be moving plenty of air for towing as long as you arent running a lot of power. The compressor seems to do a pretty good job because it cools much better than my HX35 or HX40 did, and spoolup is great. I think its pretty hard to beat for a 60mm compressor.

Id really like to know an honest comparison between it and the S300g. If you do the swap be sure and let us know what you think.

Anybody got some pictures of the HE351 side by side with an s300? I would like to compare sizes and such.

i ran a s300g and i didn't really think it wass all that much better then my stock hx35. keep it mind i was way overfuelling it wats the specs on the 341 vs 351? i could have sworn the 351 was a 60/60/9 and the 341 was a 60/58/9

I was kind of thinking the 341 had the same 60mm turbine, and a 56mm compressor with a 9cm housing? I know the HE351 is a 60/60/9.

I don't have a picture but the 57mm S300 flows 60 lbs per minute.

The 60mm He351 flows 67 lbs per minute.

I have read many accounts of complaints from 04.5 thru 07' common rail trucks that "upgraded" to the SuperB and felt like it was not an upgrade.

I personally have never ran a S300g with 57mm compressor but all of the flow figures I have come across leads me to believe that the He351 is higher flowing and faster spooling turbo.

The only real advantage of the S300g is the thicker shaft for longevity and larger dual puck wastegate.

That said, if the He351 does not have reliability issues, why would you go with a thicker heavier shaft that will hurt spool up like the S300g?

I heard the he351 is 60/60/9, but there's a thread (I think on CF) where the guy measured his 351 and it was a 60/58/9.

How do the 351's compare to the s300G? The only complaint I have about my 57mm s300/13cmSS is that under 2000 rpm the thing likes to get the EGT's warm. Above 2000 rpm the thing pulls great will run 80+mph with no EGT problems. I have had 3 65mm turbine turbos on the truck and they all seem to have the same issue. I think the 62mm compressor I had on one actually did a little better. The issue I have is that 1900-2100 rpm is where I spend most of my time, so I have to monitor the EGT gauge. Of course it isn't getting crazy hot, but it will hit 1400 on a climb, and runs around 1000-1100 pulling flat. Maybe I should try the HE351. THe truck has Mach2's and a comp box that stays on 1x1 99% of the time.

I was considering an S300g for my 3.9L with the D1SC procharger and decided on the HE351, I am happy I went with the he351, much better price and spoolup is great.

Another thought.
Some say a he351 will support 450-500 hp. On what? A commonrail?
I would imagine on a 12 valve, it would be super duper toasty.:charger:
