Gated t3 housing limits

At what power levels has it been found that gated t3 housings don't keep up with drive pressure? With both the 68 and 73mm turbine wheels. I've been told I'll have a hard time breaking 800 hp with a gated t3 housing.

Our truck went 6.40s in the 1/8 with a 63/68/14 gated with no external gate. It was in a twin setup paired with an 88.

I made 824hp with a 62/65/12 over a 80/96/1.32. But it did chew up a number of thrust bearings until I switched to steel ones. Also bent the wastegate arm a few times, until I made a high strength one. Switching to a spring-gate helped.

After rebuilding the engine, it made 964hp with a 66/71/13 over a 91/96/1.32. This was with a 13mm pump set to ~650cc, so it still has more left. But I broke it on 3 consecutive trips to the track after turning the pump up (none turbo related), so I've tuned it back a little for doing the summer car show thing.

Plan on cranking it back up when I have time to get back into racing in the fall, and hopefully make a 1000hp pass (if I can keep it together).

Never been on the scales but its gutted id say 5200. The 88 is a smooth bore 88/96/1.32. The truck cuts 1.4x 60 foots so its taking advantage of the power. Just recently switch to a 69 and a external gate.

My Junker Drag Truck runs a 364.5/73 turbine SXE-E with a T3 internal gated .80ar housing compounded with an 89mm HT80. At 5320 lbs, it went 10.7 a couple times deep staged at 133 mph. That's got to be dang near 900 HP on the 12mm Farrell 215 pump. On other shops' dynos, it will break 1,000 HP with the current tune-up.

I've been tempted to test out a 467 or possible 472 sxe as the high pressure charger to see if there is power to be gained with the S400 T4 turbine, but for now, it's running well so why change it?

How far were you able to push the HE351 you had on there before? I have one over a 475 on my 24 valve and I've got a 215 pump ready to go on. The turbine housing and internal gate is pretty well opened up but that's still a small hotside.

Mine had a 64mm HX40 10-blade turbine wheel so it worked well, the fastest the old HT4B/HE351 setup it pushed the truck was 10.8 @ 129 MPH. With the same fueling, the new setup has picked up 4mph.

Ah, I thought you had an HE351 turbine in it when you ran those times. This stock turbine is really gonna limit me.
