CR HAND throttle? ?

where would I look for a common rail hand throttle and you guys that use them what do you think of it I am running EFI live as a standalone so it should not be hard to wire in

I've been cogitating on this for a while now, for the APPS on '06-up.

I'm wondering if a guy can't splice a secondary harness in and use a modified APPS that removes the spring from the pedal, to make it work more like a variable resistor (think volume knob on an old radio).

I think it would work, if there isn't any "noise" from the one added in, but you'd have to be sure to have one or the other at rest at all times, or they might cancel each other out.
Maybe even have a way to switch the main power on and off from the variably controlled one, so there is no undesired operation.

No linkages, just fly by wire, baby.

Food for thought:

It was explained to me that on GM applications, for safety, there are 3 variable resistors in the accelerator system....and they all have to work within 3 distinct ranges (correlated) or the computer senses a fault....and I dunno what it does from there. It's pretty obvious that failing wide open would be disastrous, so that's why it's made complex on purpose.

So when you have thoughts of secondary harnesses, splices, etc....you may want to try and get a schematic and see what kind of logic is being applied in your truck.
 
In my mind it would be easy to remove the existing pedal, extend the harness wiring and add hand throttle to the pedal. Mount it anywhere you want.

And as long as the sensor is never allowed to rotate totally to no fuel position (it needs to stay "preloaded" a bit) this would work perfect, no codes etc n

Most TPS/APPS have some sort of redundant safety built in, either inverse potentiometers (one rises, one falls), or an idle validation switch (or two IVS in some applications). Like JL said, using a Factory sensor and extended wiring should be simple

It's nothing fancy at all. I only did it for safety, "dead man throttle return," otherwise I probably would have kept a foot pedal. I just mounted the pedal backwards on the same bracket as my hand throttle. I drilled a hole in the pedal and welded a T handle with threads on one side. The threads into the clevis on the throttle allow me to adjust the length of the throw and position of throttle.

Please excuse the mess. I'm in the middle of building a new truck and I just have everything mocked up right now.

I made this setup. Used a push pull cable mounted to side of foot pedal, works good and the pedal is stout enough to return on its own.
