Pto shaft movement?

Finally put an over running clutch on my M today, and with it lengthening the tractor side, the pto shaft only has 3" of movement before fully compressed? Is that enough, or do I need to lengthen the hitch of the tractor a little? It's a bush hog 306 pull type if that matters.

That should be fine for a pull type...Turn it as sharp as possible and make sure if it gets longer or shorter, but as long is it clears you should be good.

Ok, thanks. Plan on dragging it around the yard and watching it, just didn't know if there was a standard rule of thumb or not.
