On page 11 post #260 I saw this.

Not sure what the cast center weighs, but 80 lbs on the housing. The third with gears showed 118.5 on the scale a few pages back.

Judging by the numbers in the dana 60 bible, a steering axle would be right around 400 lbs; depending on which 'stock' components you use. A rear would be like 220??? Man that sounds light! The weight of an axle is going to vary a lot though with different widths, brakes etc.

You can shave a lot off of those numbers if you really bling out an axle
