1st diesel!

Hello, obviously I'm new here, I got a really good deal on a 96 Cummins 2500 about a year ago and so I bought it. My fiancee drove it all year as our daily driver. Recently we got her something more economical to drive and she green lit me getting to start modifying the truck. Up until now it's pretty much stock and as I have replaced parts I have kept it that way. I have been joining different forums trying to gain as much knowledge as I can. I hope you will forgive an occasional not to bright question because I'm sure I will have one. So I guess let's begin this journey. I understand it will be slow but I'm thankful for resources like this where someone like me can turn for inspiration, help, and guidance!
 
Welcome to the forum. Do some searching there is an immense wealth of knowledge here to be found with some jackassery mixed in ;)

You'll get advice you can trust here.
As Rascal said, start with the right components, and from there everything will fall into place.
Most guys want to jump right in to the pump and injectors.
The transmission is the key to happiness

Thanks for the advice. I plan on adding gauges first, more than likely this week. Then knowing what I know, I will start saving for the transmission upgrades first. My fiance and myself both great up around drag racing so I know I want something very drivable yet with the ability to race at the small local tracks for fun if we wanted. I would like to think 600hp is my long term goal but that might be a dream now. I am a classically trained Chef and as of now I'm out of work. But like I said the journey has begun and I do look forward to gaining new knowledge and making new friends.
 
Good, as a chef you know that building the proper base is the key to the best soup. Lol
