New 6.70/5.90 drag truck build.

It steers! Just need to extend the column a little and finish weld/box the front axle.

I have started devoting more time to this project as my current drag truck needs another trans refresh, and blew a head gasket testing for a noprep race this weekend. I have pretty much just decided to start pulling the engine and trans to rebuild then swap into this truck.

It kinda sucks though, I have changed some things up on the suspension of the 03 and it hooked up really well, I would have liked to see what that truck would do. Its just frustrating breaking all the time.

Obligatory pic of my 03 with a blown head gasket and a glitter bomb in the trans pan. :rockwoot:

Single FI 485/96/1.15 T4
135% DDP Injectors
dual CP3s
188/220 Hamilton Cam
2800 stall converter and built trans

Truck weighs about 6500lbs, and I have never dynoed it. The ET calculator put it at 1150 I think with the 10.34, but that wasnt a great run as it fell off the turbo in OD, thats why MPH was only 128. I think it has low low 10s on fuel in it, and maybe a high 9 on a small shot nitrous.

Started cutting out the rear crossmember. It weighed 19.2lbs and I will replace it with about 5lbs of tubing, so I save almost 15lbs.

I am also placing an order for some POR15 for the axles, then on to finalize the chassis and paint it. I have also be researching wiring, I am probably going to use a ARC control panel for all that.

You going to be running the same fuel / air setup in the new build?

I have still been working on this thing, I am currently trying to get the chassis finished up so I can spray some primer on it and start assembling the truck.

I need to get everything on the truck so I can get a final weight and order the coilovers. Last week I ordered some more parts, ARC control panel, master shutoff switch, primer sealer, and had QuarterMax build me a custom rear antiroll bar kit. 1.5” x .250 wall bar that is 48” wide. It is their Pro Series kit. Should be in tomorrow.

What will you be running for a datalogger? Ive been trying to look into different setups than a Edge CTS 2 like everybody else lol...

I will probably just upgrade my HP Tuners cable to a Pro so I can log drive pressure and EGTs. Maybe later on I will get something better.

Started painting some of the parts this weekend with POR15 semigloss black. Looks to be a nice paint for the axles and rusty stuff, it has a lot of good reviews.

Looking good man! This is a great thread!

Thank ya sir!

Painted a little more today, I wanted to use up all of the POR15 because I had to punch a whole in the container. This stuff is really good paint, dries very hard and durable. Still have some stuff to finish up on the chassis before final paint, but figured it wouldn’t hurt.

I decided to cut the back wall out and use some aluminum in its place, maybe buy a bead roller and make it look nice.

Also started assembling the axles and brakes, and started mocking up the rear antiroll bar.
