Caltracs on a dd

I was planning on running caltracs on my '01, but a guy I work with that drag races a lot told me you can't run them on the street because they'll break. He said he uses comp engineering slide-a-links because they have a bushing in them and a jam nut you can back off and not mess with suspension travel but they don't make a set for my truck and I don't feel like tryin to customize a set if I don't need to. So my question is since I know a good many people on here have experience with caltracs, is what would be your opinion on them for a primarily daily driven truck. I don't tow anything with this truck and I do a little street racing here and there and hit the track a good bit on the weekend
