Retired the TDI in favor of a new cruze diesel!

The mileage on this car with 1200 miles on it is about 1mpg better than my jetta was doing also

I got 37 in town on my first fill up, took a trip to springville Utah and back home (roughly 600 miles round trip) got 44 on that tank with the cruise set at 85. I'm heading to north Dakota for work tomorrow so I'll update with my mileage once I get there.

This is just me personally, but I find the cruze more appealing to the eyes lol. But not just that, at 6'2" I feel like the cruze has more legroom and the seats fit me better, the interior comfort for ME is better than anything VW has to offer.

this didn't matter so much to me, but the warranty is far better, 5 years/100,000 miles vs 3 years/36,000 miles, and GM dealers are more accessible to me than VW dealers, there's a lot more little things that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Actually......the Cruze's engine is German built. Lol

Yeah but you won't have to worry about a blown tail light making the blower motor do weird things, or the power seats causing the starter to crank LOL

Mine isn't all the way broken in get, but after driving a 14 cruze then a 14 TDI, the cruze feels stronger

Swole, when I had a Cruze to review for Diesel World I liked it quite a bit better than my '06 TDI Jetta. It is similar in size but a more refined car that is better equipped than the Jetta and MUCH better equipped than the new model VWs. It has more oomph than my modified '06 and runs the 1/8 in a similar time. The 6-speed auto in the Cruze is a VERY nice trans that does what you want when you want. It has a manual mode but I enjoyed it the most when driving it in "D" and letting it do it's thing. I took the car through the "Tail of the Dragon" twice and got great mileage doing it... the trans did great as did the brakes, the handling isn't perfect but a nice set of wheels and tires and shorter springs like my VW has and it would be great too.

I have seriously considered getting one, but I really don't want another car payment.

I currently have one sitting in my driveway, testing it out for a day or two. Couldn't agree more, I'm in love with this little thing. I'm only 5'8" but 315 pounds and fairly wide and I'm very comfortable in it. Love the power and mileage. The My link is also fantastic. Overall pending the deal pencils out right, it's coming home to stay with me.

I was excited when they came out but not being able to get a manual trans is a bummer. Seeing the fuel economy numbers people are getting seem to be quite a bit lower then my VW. With any luck maybe Ford will have a TDI soon or Chevy will put a manual in.

The 6-speed auto in the Cruze Diesel is a nice trans though... During my two-week review it did exactly what I wanted when I wanted even when driven aggressively through the "Tail of the Dragon" route.

I personally would not let the lack of a manual option run me away from the car...

My cruze pulled an average of 9mpg BETTER than what my TDI has ever given me on a trip to ND and back.

My problem with the auto is that I don't know how it will like extra power, and I don't know of anyone that deals with them. My TDI seems to get better fuel economy then any of the Cruze's that I've heard about.

I'm not positive, but I don't think Fleece has had trans problems with their Cruze or the ones they have tuned and they are making a lot more power and torque than stock!!! They also tune out the hesitation off idle too! I think there are some others starting to play with the Cruze too, but the crew at Fleece is the most experienced with them...
