Removable Single Stack Kit

So while trying to evolve the products we carry, besides bringing our product line up to date (which is DRASTICALLY needed) we are toying with the idea of a single stack kit that would allow the stack to be removed, and you would have complete use of your truck bed.

Now this system would be ideal for the guys or gals who use their trucks for work Monday through Friday, and truck pull or race at their local events. Now the down side of this application is it would take a few minutes to disconnect the application, but the plus side is complete use of the truck bed.

We are still working on the details, but figured we would ask the people who would be using this for some input. So let us know what you think...
If I can I'll try posting somp pictures of the idea, but they're funny about posting things that we are currently working on, and possibly apply for patents for.
 
I love new ideas and promote your wishfulness for something "new." However, I would rather you spend time on a "wire-less" stack that would imaginarlly go through my toolbox and offer a single bull horn, but a full tool box, in a short bed mega. Pweeeease? LOL
 
I have thought about a v-band flange type deal that would replace the tailpipe and tip and come up through the right rear of the bed for racing. Maybe have some kind of plug or hinged door for the floor.

I just never got serious enough about racing.
 
I had a Diverter box made by chrome depot, your major retailer, and all I did was flip the handle to change which exhaust I used. It was a short stack that you couldn't see but it worked perfect. I made a welded a v band on the top so you could pull it off quick for full bed use. Maybe this can be mass produced. They sell the boxes for semis with a heated box. I just had one hole cut and one welded up for it to work. Simple yet effective.

I've been toying with the V-band Connection too. This would allow a quick connect and disconnect. However I want to be able to use as much as "stock" items as I can. I'll have to revisit the layout I have, and see if the V-band could be used. We stock several different Marmon flanges and flares...so it could be possible.

I've also thought about using a heat diverter tube in this application too. Only down side to this is that it does not close off 100%.

Feel free to keep adding ideas to this. It can only make it better!!
 
If you do V band, do the stack with the lever style quick band. Have a blind to put over while not in use. Also, you could sell some sort of bag or box as an accessory to store the stack while not in use. 90% of people will bang it up in storage.
 
Sounds great to me I am definetly interested I want to stack mine with a single stack for the summer and at the track but I work at a bank monday-friday so it would be nice to be able to take it off and run it back out the back if it was a decently easy kit to work
 
I do this on my truck all the time. 5" back with a muffler and pipe out the back. When I go racing I loosen band clamps and roll the back pipe out of the rear then use an adapter to go over the existing pipe. I have a 6" stack with a 90* on it that I swing through the hole and slide into the other adapter and band clamp together. Then I bolt it through the bed floor. Honestly I would love the v band clamp style. Even more so if i could run my muffler with the stack. It's less than a 30 min swap. Honestly 15 min should do it. Ill post pics later.

i dont think they make any big enough but they make those cutout's that you can flip to go through different piping. something like that would be cool if you could get it for a 5 inch.
 
We currently manufacture a Heat Diverter Tube, now this does not seal off 100%, but it would enough to allow to work the way you are thinking. We have already toyed with that idea too...that would require us to design a nice "plug" to put in the stack outlet when not in use.

I did notice the not 100% sealed issue. Simply made a cap with a v-band on it. I would crawl under the truck flip the handle then take off the stack via the v-band and place the cap on it. I did get a tool less v-band to make it easier. I loved that exhaust but sold it and I have no pictures of it.

I would like to see it be production material being I absolutely loved it. It was easy to switch and way faster than anything else.
 
I did this for a few local guys. I built them a few different ways.

The simplest version used one of these inline with a standard exhaust.

Then used a 5" id pipe section with one end covered in a plate, it would slip fit over the top if the tail pipe was being used and would slip fit over the rear if the stack was being used. Kept it simple and just used a flat band clamp to seal it off.

V-band would be nice. But in order to v-band and not have to support the stack higher up; I'd build a 5" id splitter with longer legs and have a 5 od stack slide into it a ways to give support, the v-band would need to be welded a little ways up the pipe instead of on the end. If that makes sense to you.

On the setups I did, the pipe used to cap off the unused leg was cut to a length to allow the welded end of the cap to sit flush with the bed floor. One guy, we actually welded his cut out section of bed floor onto the cap so he only had the outline from the cut showing.
