my old one is alot like jw3's but on my new truck i am going to run a rolepan and just run the ring out a slit in the pan, should look prety clean,k i will post some pics

hopefully this will work...if not ill have to find a way to adapt a 3" shackle

its all 1/2" thick plate... and it weighs about 65lbs

Gene I'm going to raise the the reciever up in the frame so the hitch point will be below the reciever. This will change the angle of the hitch point and have less of a lever affect.
 
Here is one posted by a member on another board. It is like several already posted in that it uses the channel section and pintle ring. However he has made a modification to connect to the bumper so that it takes some of the load. Pretty intuitive actually. Just wonder what regulating authorities like DHRA would think about it? I suppose if it ruffled feathers, you could leave the bumper attachment unbolted or completely off.

These images don't show it but a bolt goes through that plate and the hole in the bumper for a ball.
