2014 Cruze long term review

Will do... I think I have all the parts... I just haven't had time... Hopefully over the winter I'll get it done or at least test fit...

I talked with Roy about his at TS this year I believe, he seemed to have the impression that the majority of his problems lied with being tuned while still retaining the emissions equipment. He mentioned that he may be acquiring parts to delete it from a friend, but I'm not sure if he ever did or not. I know another member on here MWood84(SP?) Matt Wood has one and he upgraded from a VW TDI GOLF to it and loves it. They appear like that may have more interior room over Golf/Jetta diesel counterparts which I'm sure is nice.

I still have all the emissions equipment on there for now, about to roll 64k. I think the tune + my driving style +having one of the first CTDs + the emissions system being chit in general = the reason I had so many problems. I have been running on the stock tune for nearly 40k miles without any problems....It is still going to get deleted if I keep it, I just need to find a muffler that I can weld in.

I rode in Wulff's VW when we were in Bowling Green, it feels way stronger than my Cruze did even with the tune.

I think my water pump is starting to weep, but I'll probably run it to 100k unless it gets bad.

So I did an oil change today. What a pain in the ass. I also did something else I noticed while browsing the CruzeTalk forum...

A guy on there was posting how he had to clean his MAP sensor every 6 months and replace it once a year. He's had the car for 18 months now and replaced the sensor once, cleaned 2 times.

So I popped the top engine cover off. Removed 2 10mm bolts holding the bracket for the wiring, unhooked the wiring from the MAP sensor, and popped it out... Sensor is the one under the blue plug, disconnected

DISGUSTING. I used what was left of a can of Brake Kleen and reinstalled.

Now, since it has gotten cold, there's been a bit of a lag and low power in low RPM, low load situations. Kinda like going 35mph in 5th gear. It would take a half a heartbeat longer to downshift than when it gets warm. Since cleaning, there is definitely more low end torque. Cruising through town, no lagging.

Looks like someone needs to design an EGR delete for them, too.

Ive been looking for blue, sunroof, etc....found one, too. Just debating if I want a car payment again. :hehe:

Got some new wheels and tires. Old ones are 215/55R17. New ones are 245/35R20

Leather hasn't been cleaned since I bought the car. So on Amish's suggestion, I bought Griot's Interior Detailer and a bottle of Leather Care. I sprayed the detailer on the seats and used a mushroom cleaning brush to work it into the leather. I used a microfiber to soak it up. Let it dry and sprayed the Leather Care on. Worked it in a bit with another microfiber. Turned it from a "slick" leather to a "soft" leather.

One thing the sealant showed it the awful orange peel this car has. Now after I spent $60 for those 3 cleaners, I will wait a bit before buying some real buffing compound and some clay bars.

Go grab some 2000 sandpaper and a 3M rubber soft block and buff it with compound and glaze. I can't stand orange peel.

So you cleaned the seat with their interior cleaner first, then worked in the leather care?

I have a similar issue on my 14 Chevy. First vehicle with leather seats and I'm learning. Your process looks promising.

Correct. Used a mushroom scrub brush to work the detailer in and froth it up.

Something like this:

I'm going to strongly agree with Jon on this one. I've had the car for 3.5 years and never did a full detail until today. I use Adam's, but did a leather clean and then four stages of Adam's Leather Conditioner....night and day difference in the way the leather feels. Doing the steering wheel seemed to make the biggest difference.

Not to high jack this guys but if anyone is interested in a brand new set of wheels and tires for their Cruze pm me. I will make you a killer deal. Unfortunately we got rid of our Cruze for an suv but it was flawless for 80k miles.

Oldest did you order a new one? I built one on Chevys site a few weeks ago. Was happy to see the diesel option back.

Thanks all!

Post the wheels in the For Sale section. I am assuming they are the stock wheels?

Diesel option has been back. A gentleman on CruzeTalk bought a sedan with manual trans and has been clicking off 56mpg on the highway.

Unless Pure Diesel Power is selling cars, no I didn't get a new car. :lolly:

I had heard Chevy was brining the diesel back but didn't know they did, nice to see they are giving a manual option.

We had seen 52-54 hand calculated a few times. I really wanted to delete but never got around to it but never had a reason to either.
