I have a 1985 7710 Ford that is used primarily for farm work, but in the summer it goes to the local farm pulls. I was just wondering what tweeking there is to be done on this tractor. It has the MINIMEC pump on it and, during pulls i set the screw on the top right of the pump a half a round from being all the way out. during non pulling, I leave the pump set to about 90-95 hp. Any advice will be appreciated.

Can't remember what turbo is one it but those things were screaming for an intercooler or even a small water injection setup for the pulls, those are work horses for a 4 cyl, we has an 80' 7700.....sold it in 91' when I cam in the Navy.

I know what ya mean. Unless there is another ford in the class, i am pulling against 4010 and 4020 JD's, 706 and 806 IH and and a 1850 Oliver, all with turbo's. I know I'm asking alot from this tractor. And the John deere guys get mad when another color beats them. My buddy found thins out when he beat several of them with his 180 AC.

The 7710 begs for a better turbo. They have a rather large exhaust housing and a small compressor wheel. Not really a good combo. I always wanted to put an hy35 on one and see what would happen. An intercooler would also be a great addition too.
Delivery valves also help these tractors.

*UPDATE*
Just bought a hy35 turbo from a 01 auto cummins. I'm gonna put a boost guage on it so i can see the before and after psi and lag difference. I talked to my cousin who works at the local tractor dealership and we are gonna put it on the dyno and dial the pump in.

If you wanted to go you from there you could jump to a basic S300.
