Jeep Libery CRD Mileage Question

What kind of fuel mileage are the older liberty with the CRD, getting like 05-06 body style Town/Highway. Ive been possibly looking at picking one up!

My aunt in Oklahoma gets 23-28 out of her stock one.

The biggest issue is the transmission. Plan on replacing the torque converter if it hasn't already been done.

mine has some mods, custom egr delete, tuner, upgraded torque converter, straight piped, aftermarket lift pump, and it gets about 23mpg in winter time and tops out round 28-29mpg in the summer running on the highway. my wife mostly drives ours. also plan on doing a timing belt right at or a little before 100k. i did mine at 77,000 because my water pump so i figured might as well get it all done at once while its already apart. lots of problems with timing belts stretching and jumping a notch or 2 then it causes the valves to hit the tops of the pistons.

I skipped the CRD... didn't make sense to have to spend $5000 more on a used '05-06 just to have a diesel, and put up with an auto. We got a gas 6spd instead.
