I bought the livewire for my truck and so far ive been happy with it as a PROGRAMMER but not so happy with it as a MONITOR..heres why..

Programmer allows you to tune the transmission and I like the jake-brake tunes that it has. From the factory installed tunes with my k&n intake and stock exhaust i can make a lot of white (tire) and black (diesel) smoke now.

as far as it being a monitor, heres a few reasons it stinks (and not the good way)

- when you use it as a monitor and attach it to your pillar, you still have to UNPLUG the cord each time you get out of the truck or it will just stay on all the time. I did this the first time in the middle of the day and the screen was so washed out from the heat it produces plus the heat of oklahoma mid day with the windows rolled up, that you couldnt read it.. thats a pain to unplug it each time

- using it as a monitor and unplugging it takes you back to the beginning screen each time, so plan on spending a few moments at start up each time to re-display the monitor outputs. I have to go through 3 or 4 menus to get back to EGT and my other readouts. which brings me to complaint 3

- using it as an EGT monitor sucks because they dont come with an EGT probe and tracking someone down to get a direct answer on this has been kind of tough. I think i will just get a pod and a seperate gauge for egt. The rest of the stuff is monitored from the PCM (which i like)

- No turbo timer, i wish it had this function..
-downloading takes roughly 4 minutes to go from point a-b and there is NO WAY to get a 'on-the-fly' setup for it to change tunes..

Im not knocking this unit, as i know VERRRRRY little about all of this tuning garb. This is just an amatuer review of what I purchased. These are all simple things that SCT could update for next years edition.

Anyone else have any input?

nope, the kid goes here to school at TU with me, never met him but he is a hot rod, but he does have a neat truck. My dad is on OSO, he goes by Fountain38 and has the 36ft Daytona, it was the former American Racing Race boat converted for pleasure.
If all else fails with the Livewire, use it for loading up tunes and get some autometer gauges.
Go to the top of the page and click on user cp and fill out your signature so we can see what mods are on your truck etc... too.

meh, what can i say? i still needs a radio though, when in reality tim brings the whole party! The tunes and girls and everything, we and our buddy in his 33 outlaw alway dock and the nicer boats do tie onto us, and we do eventually do get a party started, but nothing like the crazy rednecks on the pontoon boats and crappy little 15 foot boats, that pack 15 people on one boat. LOL LOL

Hi Waterboy,

My name is Vivian and we are SCT dealers. I want to ask your permission to send your review to our rep at SCT. I think it is a very good view of what the customers expect and believe firmly in customer feedback because you can't fix what you don't know.

If you say it is ok, I will pass on your findings.

Thanks,
Vivian

Real quick - I don't want to interrupt the boat wars

I received an email from SCT today saying that most of the points made by Waterboy have been addressed and they will be posting a reply here.

Nice Cat Dex!

Thanks,
Vivian

Waterboy,

I would send the livewire back and just get a SCT XcAL2 with some autometer gauges.

You dont want to hang out or meet with Dex. Hes a big 400 lb. fagat with a tattoo on his face.

Hey Waterboy - to turn the LiveWire off instead of unplugging it just push and hold the wheel in for a couple of seconds and it shuts off. You can turn it on the same way too. I don't recall them mentioning it in the manual anywhere, I happened across it online. Hope that helps with at least two of the issues. :)

foster, how dare you tell everybody what i truly look like, i was trying to fool them, then you go and tell them everything, wheres that up yours smiley when i need it.... Shall i tell them what you really look like? LOL

As previously stated, all you have to do is hold the jog wheel for 3-4 seconds and that will power the device off. Then you can power it back on the same way.

Ive had similar experiences myself. Our engineering team has this on their list of product enhancements. So we should have it available in a future firmware update.

The EGT Plug and Play Kit is definitely on the way. It is a very smooth + plug and plug kit. The hardest part of the install will be the drilling and tapping of for the sensor. If you can do that - everything else will be smooth sailing.

We didn't design this type of control into the Livewire. The liability for this type of control would be quite high on some of the other platforms that we support. I will add it into suggestions for the future.

Unfortunately - this is the nature of how flash programming works. Most of the 'on-the-fly' devices are tricking the trucks into over fueling the trucks in a very imprecise way. We have an amazing amount of control over the truck, very similar to the way it was originally engineered, not just turning on a garden hose when you get past 40-50% pedal position.

Thanks for all the Feedback - It might seem like no one is listening, but we always take our customer's input and feedback on new and existing products, to make them better for the future.

Andy,

So when can we expect the Livewire to be in correct form?

:thankyou2:

Egt probe, etc.

When are all the bugs gonna be worked out? When will all the options work or be available for diesel trucks?
