A/C compressor delete?

Anybody know the belt routing without an A/C compressor on a CR? Is there a different water inlet connection needed that repositions the tensioner?

your best bet is probably to look at the sticker under the hood for the routing info, it gives both with and without a/c.

If it is in fact in a 3rd gen dodge and not a Fummins project, not all of them have a diagram. My 03 does not have a belt diagram, guess Chrysler figured they would save the dime it would cost to make and have somebody stick the label on.

A/C Compressor Pump Pulley (8)
CAUTION: When installing the accessory drive belt, the belt must be routed correctly. If not, engine may overheat due to water pump rotating in wrong direction. Refer to or for correct engine belt routing. The correct belt with correct length must be used.

Chris,

That is the diagram I have found also, but the tensioner would need to mount in a different position than it does now in order to put tension on the belt. That is why I asked about if a different water conection is needed.

Yea and the labeling is for with AC... funny it don't give you for w/o But the diagram is correct and thats the important part I guess LOL
 
If this is to scale ... and I DOUBT it... looks like its either same hole and rotated or moved to the left as you look at the face of the motor...

I will look at mine tomorrow.... its 16* and dark outside....... see if I can tell anything by looking at it.

Just figured it out!! There are additional mounting hole on the existing bracket. The tensioner mounts further outward on the engine. Those drawings are to scale and you can see that the center of the tensioner is outboard more.

Well, As I expected, the belt was going to completely miss the idler pulley and also interfer with the fan shroud bracket by the alt. So, going with the Frankenstein theme of my truck anyway, I canabilized a reverse idler pulley from some old Powerstroke parts and ran the belt under the pulley. Works perfect!! I was going to machine the grooves off of the existing pulley but this works better.
