Rule Changes for 2014?

^^^which is why adopting PPL rules for this next of the woods gives me heartburn. No representation, no participation, no nothing, just get a rule book whenever someone feels like publishing it.

Isn't this how 'Merica got started?

Dose it really matter Mat? the current champ said to be changing ring and pinions every few hooks now, other top truck are doing the same, we are approaching 10k in drive line parts for 2013. not sure how keeping the current rules or adopting otherrules is gonna change the problem.....prob for the guys who havet pulled in 6~7 years it might I guess! BTW I am not *****in about the breakin, I accept the risk because we like pulling and hope to win someday!

Haisleys don't have anything to do with making the rules there was several pullers from at least 6 states there talking about the rules and what could be done different and half of them wouldn't even speak up about wanting any changes so they must have been ok with them and the head PPL tech didn't think lowering a hitch was going to help either due to every track and sled combo is different. Most guys are changing ring and pinions just to change them so they don't break instead of trying to see how long they'll last. They'll last longer than 10 hooks trust me I can go a full season and only use two R&P none of which will be broke when changed but they look like crap.

BTW Sorry for the Hi Jack, 95% of the current FPP pullers (including myself) are pushin to adopt ppl rules the other 5% along with some old time pullers are trying to stop it!

I'm sorry but that is completely retarded to me! You could have bought and paid for open drive line stuff for what you spent in repairs this year

we run a competitive 2.6 duramax and took 5th in PPL points and in last 2 years haven not had a broken ring or pinon.. still the same gear.. its about making it all work together

I agree, im giving 2.6 one more go, most of the problems are self inflicted because of gearing I choose to run, some was just long overdue, until this year weve never had a break, so I cant complain. I was a lil off counting antrims breakage, total will be about 7800 for the 13 season:lolly:

I agree, We have only broke 1 R/p, thing is the one that broke, broke the housing as well, that R/P was 3 seasons old though too, we replace the org housing beging of the year because it was bent.

I've seen herds of people make really bad decisions on more than one occasion.

Be careful what you wish for Caleb.

Caleb, I understand your reasons for change, but how many pullers do you think this class (in our area) will have after a couple seasons of $8000 to $10000 per year of driveline maintenance?
Sorry we are on opposite sides of this one, that may be a first.
My thoughts would be if you want a Big-Boy truck, enter a Big-Boy class.
2.6 has escalated far beyond most budgets.

*Need to be careful with words here....

Just because 100% of "everybody" doesn't immediately jump on the latest bandwagon doesn't mean they are "trying to stop" something. It just means "my opinion is 'no' right now."

All I asked for is a current copy of the 2014 rules before making a decision.

Matt, what is different about this than what FPP is doing to us this year? At least it sounds like PPL had a rules meeting, whereas we are getting ignored. The one year the vast majority of pullers want changes, FPP decides to stiff them.

The way the turbo rules are right now with PPL both classes, 2.6 and 3.0 are basically unlimited single classes. Both run a .250 map groove and the way they are setting the bores they are all unlimited. It would save thousands of dollars to throw the clipped wheel crap out and set a smooth bore 83mm class and a 104mm class since that's what they are clipping to each class. Tractors do it to stop this stuff but the trucks don't!

Dale, you spent 11k on a rear end last year. I think thats the same as doing 10 r&p changes. Your kinda contradicting your self...

Crazier than Hell, Ain't it? :snoop:

I'd like to protect my investment, escalating the class puts any driveline at higher risk.

In my opinion the best set of rules for the 2.6 class would be a combination of PPL and FPP 2.6 rules.

Use FPP's turbo rule and PPL's rules for everything else as long as they do like they discussed at the meeting. (solid susp. allowed and no leaf springs or rear brakes required). This should make it simple for techs and cut some cost for pullers also.
