Any of you individual shops use Cat ET? If so are you using it with windows 7? Is the Bluetooth version of ET usable with 7?

Also with Insite any of you have an actual comparison of 5 vs 6?

What are good places to purchase? Would one be better to purchase online or straight through a dealer? I'm not completely set on Insite and et but I'm also not seeing any generic scanner that will do full data streams like the brand specific tools do.

I use ET with Windows 7. Save your money on the BT version and just get a Comm3

Agreed ^^ I have the bluetooth/USB Nexiq and never use it honestly. We just use the usb with the Nexiq on Windows XP. I use it on the CAT, Cummins, and Detroit stuff without an issue.

Got a link to the Nexiq? That may be an option. I looked at JPro but don't like the interface and prolink thru snapon is higher than giraffe pu**y if you get the OE softwares.

One more question with the Nexiq is it compatable with heavy eq or truck only?

That's it, and a really really good price. looks like they're out of stock though. I just got a new one a couple of months ago and it was $1100.

I'm not going to buy immediately. But hopefully by the end of the year. I don't want to buy the OE stuff only to find out that I could have bought a different software that would do all the OE will minus reflashes.

They come with the Deutsch data link connectors but sell a ton of other connectors to adapt to other applications. Most equipment and trucks I have seen all have a Deutsch data link port somewhere in the cab or near the engine. I made my own adapters for hooking straight to the ECM of all of the engines since most are on stands in rows.

Edit: Chit it says on highway only for the CAT software compatibility. Looks like it is proprietary to CAT for the off highway diagnostic software and adapters. That kinda stinks. All of our off-highway stuff is either old 3306 CATs or M11/ISM in the loaders so I didn't realize that. My bad man.

Tempting. Would you care to pm me some contact info? I'd like to ask you a few more questions.

Don't buy a Chinese knockoff, you'll be sorry if you do. A real Nexiq is just under $800

You have any info on distinguishing between the two? This company sells too many OE scanners for me to just chock em all up as Chinese knockoffs.

Lol the price doesn't give it away? They claim your getting the tool and 18 difference programs for less than 1/2 the cost of the real adapter! Good luck with your new paperweight.

I haven't purchased anything yet. But I also hadn't found anywhere else that carries Nexiq. Hence had no idea what to expect to spend.

What is your normal use of the Nexiq? Any downfalls? How is the interface or does it use the OE programs just one pass thru device?

Cat/Cummins/Detroit/Bendix/Wabco/Allison/Eaton/Paccar ect. Unless your doing off road equipment it's WAY better than using the cat adapter or a Cummins Inline. Bluetooth works if you need it but requires an adapter. For some odd reason I've never found a factory installed bluetooth adapter in any laptop that will work with one. I rarely ever use bluetooth because it's always slow to connect.

I buy T60 Thinkpads running XP and load diagnostic software on them. Probably have 6-7 computers ready at all times in case one gets killed. Always carry one with me just in case.

Have you actually used it on off-road eq or tried? I'm seriously wondering if a person couldn't connect but just get limited data on off-road applications. Not really concerned with Bluetooth.
