Duramax dash harness... its one hell of a mess.

How I got the half cab section out... atv cart:cheeky:

After that I got the c10 up on the lift. I just torched the bottom of the bed bolts off. Alot easier that way.

You can see the origional color well in this picture.

The c10 has a very small transmission hump in the floor. That is what is coming out.

This is where I left if for today. Doors, fenders, core support off. Once I get the dash out and the ac box off. The cab cab come off.

Probably why the heater didnt work so good in this truck.

To get the bed to line up this is how high the cab is going to have to sit... its not ideal

Especially if you are keeping it 4WD that is not bad at all... The older bodies just did not wrap down to the frame as much as newer ones!

That'll give you plenty of room to work on everything. If you build some steps to hide some of the frame it won't look bad at all.

Or, body drop/recess the frame rails and lower the bed then mount the cab where you'd like...

And, remember that most people will be looking at the truck standing up not down low like your photo...

Very true... Once I did an egr delete on a 6leaker with a 3in body lift, took like an hour

I agree, mount some step tubes and paint the frame a semi gloss black and it'll blend in behind the tube. That height looks really good where you have it.

Did that steering wheel bolt in? A quick side by side of my square-bod gm column versus gmt-800 column says the is very similar & very close to same distance from the wheel. Its a bit different in length beyond that but thats the easier part to change/accomodate. Is it the same situation on the 67-72 gm truck column?

Washed the factory cab mounts off the frame today, then ground them smooth. Next im going to focus on taking 16in out of the frame

Started the frame chop by unbolting the trans crossmember. Burning out the rivets for the torsion bar cross member. Cutting the exhaust, fuel and brake lines.

Then started cutting

Cut the frame like the factory mid section

Then slid the frame together

What I cut out of the frame

Ready to be welded up
