who makes the best billet rods?.

I'll get some pics of the carnage hopefully this weekend. Hey Brett how long did it take for Torrey and you
Get Cunningham rods?.

Sorry was on the road for work, don't normally check compd while at work.

The first time was around 6 weeks, this last time was closer to 9 weeks iirc.

No big deal. I emailed Cunningham and they said the same thing. But they had a customer that had a set for sale that sold his truck before he could intstall them. They are at the border waiting for pickup.

We put some Monotherms through the side of a concreted block while they were connected to Carrillo's. No issues, and still running them.

THE CARNAGE.

Thanks for sharing those pics. I can almost feel your pain looking at them. Only thing I was going to mention, if you're running high RPM's, I think you're suppose to make an adjustment to the cap on the Carillo's for oiling purposes (but check with some others, it was something Ashley Black mentioned in a thread a while back- but I don't know if I can find the post- he specifically said if you take a look at the stock CR rods you'll see clearancing done for oiling purposes and Carillo's didn't have that, he machined something in for that. Honestly. I didn't know anything about that last time I was in to one of these and never took a close enough look at the factory rod).

You are correct, almost all aftermarket billet rods don't come machined on the rod cap for the proper clearance...I don't even recommend running them on street trucks that way. We take .020 off each side of the cap to let the hot oil leave the journal.

Thanks for chiming in. I had read it, but don't have any "builds" under my belt- at least yet.

Thanks. Couldn't see in the pic if there was something stuck to the firedeck (beside the injector and in between the valves), or a gouge out. That's "SWOLE" like carnage. I suppose it's impossible to see what shape the bearing is in on the connecting rod cap that let go. I just wondered if something got that bearing and then you get extra clearance, along with a "Dead Blow" or hammering effect on those rod bolts. Just grabbing at straws.

Please explain more what you are machining and how.

the rods are R&R rods.
The question is can I buy 1 .020 over mono therm piston?.

Yes you can buy 1 .020 over Monotherm piston.

I did the same thing to my motor and it was cylinder 5 that failed I was running Carrillo Rods with Monotherm pistons. I'm not sure if the rod that failed, I was thinking more it was the cylinder wall that failed.

I was going to say the same thing.
