How cheap is cheap. I have a stock set for my car that I usally run in the winter as they seem to start better, my car is about to get sent down the road and I could put my 520 in.

I like my AHU. I used a 1.6TD exhaust manifold with a gt2052. flipped the manifold so turbo is sitting on top of the manifold. My exhaust outlet is on the passenger side which is has the whole passenger side open for compounds and perfect for a hx35. I have a buddy from stillwater suppose to be sending me one. Convinced him at Ennis it was time for him to donate to my TDI fund

Are you in oklahoma too?
I got the ecu tuning software working tonight. Got the factory hot start issue fixed, and got launch control set to 3200 rpm. I'm debating doing the "popcorn" setup, until I know if it'll really help spool the turbo.

Also, here's my tune with the hot start fix if anyone cares. Just add a touch of fuel to the start i/q to everything below 1000rpm. This one also has launch control turned on.
If you can't read it after unzipping it, I can email it to you.
Any I welcome any tuning tips! I'm starting from scratch.

(In *btdc) Does anyone know how far the ECU can actually advance the timing? Or is there a hard limit, and it doesn't matter where I set the timing at the gear?

lol, I somehow managed to get the injection pump running without the ecu powering on yesterday. Does that count as mechanical?
It seems the pump is capable of quite a bit of advance, at least thats what it reports. It idles at 5*, and right now I have it hitting 19* at the top end, which it does hit.
I also think I have a boost leak preventing this hx from spooling. I took it to 5k last night, and the hx started whistling, car picked up a little acceleration, and then just kinda fell on its face.

Well I bet you can't spool it in all honesty. 5k is kind of the limits of the the fueling of the pump? What was your fuel pressure to the pump? wonder if IP cant keep up or its starving for fuel. That is an extremely large turbo to run as a single. I know Im running PP764 injectors which are smaller but they are one of the bigger size nozzles made for the car and still capable of 200hp if everything is supported. Im running a gt2052 which is considerably smaller than the hx35 and I know mine is slightly laggy still even with full fuel but it lights around the 2300rpm which is perfect for highway driving. I wasn't able to pick up the hx35 in stilly due to my friend having a blow out and me having to write a engineering paper over diesel emissions. I think for compounds the hx35 is about perfect and maybe just a tad big even in that sense. A h1c is about right I think for what im wanting and maybe you need to try a tighter exhaust housing or smaller turbo with a smaller exhaust wheel. Try to base what you want off a GTB2260 size turbo. that will support 220-300 on a TDI and finding something in that caliber may be the ideal turbo.

It starts to spool, but flatlines. The air whooshing sound is very loud, similar to an open leak in a boot or something. I know I have the fuel . And I'm sure the pump will fuel to at least 6k.
I do have a gt35 to throw on, but I need to get everything together as far as boost and piping so that I can make it a one day swap.
I would run a 2260, as they're the current fad, but I'm trying to stay away from the vacuum controlled crap, and it's not big enough for my goals.

I've got the gt35 almost ready to swap on tuesday. I need to drop off the compressor housing at a machine shop in the morning, and have them weld on the hx35 vband. That way I can use all the same piping I have setup already. Then I need a new t3 gasket and oil drain gasket, then to pull the holset off the motor and clock the garrett so its all the same. Hopefully be a 3 hour swap with minimal cussing.

Found the Speedo sensor plug tonight. Didn't know it spawned in the injection pump harness. Plug wasn't long enough so I had to split the loom back 6". Cruise, Speedo, and fuel gauge all work now. Abs light is going nuts.
Everything in the car works now except fans, passenger door sensor, and fuel door switch

You going to nhrda deal in tulsa. Finally got my low pressure and going to start fabbing her up. Hopefully I can get it dialed in before then. That gt2052 is being fantastic for me thus far even with pp764. Going to get this he351 mounted and see what she does. Spray and pray is the goal for a dyno run. Also visited the local tractor salvage yard (5 miles from house) got a few serial numbers for Bosch ve mechanical pumps and going to cross reference and see which will be the best option for running on mine. I'm done with electronics and want to go fully mechanical now.

I'm going to attend if possible, but I won't run anything I'm not legit enough to compete.

So, turbo swap hasn't happened yet, but..........
1600 bucks for r32 swap. Everything from the shifter back, plus tt 6spd trans, axles, spindles, sub frame, controller, and maybe the steering rack

Learning a lot about the haldex stuff now. Seems they used the same (different gens though) system in the lambo, land rovers, Volvo's, among others. I'm feeling pretty good about this. Not sure if I'm going to mess with aftermarket controllers or not. Stock stuff seems decent.
