Performance head install

While I am installing a compound turbo kit I was thinking that while I have the entire right side of the motor basically disassembled I should go ahead and install the Hamilton head. My question is is it smart to go through all this expense without decking the block. I wasn't planning on having it sent out until I do an overhaul next year. Is it absolutely crucial to deck the block or can I get away with safely installing a new head?
