Input shaft play

How much side to side play is normal for the input shaft of an NV 4500? I put a kenny's shaft in this last weekend and you can make it touch the retainer if you move inside to side.
 
.02 endplay on the mainshaft, you should not be able to move the input at all. set the endplay like you should have when you installed the input. otherwise your nice new piece will be worthless.
 
The rear housing of the trans needs to come off, the 5th gear assembly pulled off, and then there are shims under the bearing race retainer plate. You could call up Zumbrota bearing and gear for shims.
