Looking for some db2 info

A friend of mine is replacing a 350 in a boat with a 93 6.5, we're trying to find out if we can get another 500 rpm of usable power out of it. Ive looked around the net some but I'm not find much useful info. He's not trying to make a bunch of power with it, it'll have more power stock than the 350 he's got and he doesn't want to stress the stern drive too much. Hes mostly just after better fuel consumption and its a fairly easy swap. Thanks for any help.

A DS4 will get you in excess of 4K, but you gotta live with all the headaches of the DS4, not to mention the electronics.

My bronco would turn about 3800 but you have to be careful not to turn them up too much or they will run away.

It goes offshore so he's leery of the electronics.

Are there cheap/easy mods to get 3800 out if them or is it a custom pump?

It should run 3800 rpm unless he has a pump from a delivery vehicle . Some of them only go to 3400 . If you need more rpms it is a fairly simple mod ...

Its pretty simple, but if you just prop it right you shouldn't need anymore rpm. Plenty of torque for a high pitch.

Its going to need a prop either way, we were just thinking if we could get a few more R's out of it he wouldn't need as steep of a prop and it would take some pressure off the stern drive.
