Computer 2001

I bought a 2001 block, computer was attached to the block but all wires were cut. plans are to pull the factory dash out of my 1999 and fab one and just run auto meter gauges. 24v will get a p7100. I think thats most of the import stuff?!

This being said I need computer help. Can I use the 01 computer or 99 computer? Do I need to send one out to be reprogramed? Would it be easier to just give to someone?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram or know where I can get a new harness?

Thanks!!!!

You won't even need to run the ECM, if you're going P-pump and run aftermarket gauges.
The only thing you'd probably need is the PCM (firewall), if you're running an auto and speedometer.

Mark.

ok, well the 2001 block i am going to use was pulled from a BUS? so not sure if that is going to be an issue... also i didn't pull the computer from the firewall, would i just be able to use the one in the truck (1999)? or do i need to go back and pull the one from the bus?

yes the truck will stay auto and i will be using an aftermarket speedo.

I doubt there is one in the bus. If there is something in the bus, it will be worthless for your truck. Our buses have the Cummins ECM, an Allison tranny module, and a Bendix ABS module, that's it. No PCM.

This swap would be way easier and better to just get the anteater trans controller and not worry about the factory computers. Will control the trans better as a bonus.

The ecm on the bus engine is not the same as the dodge controller. Will not work with what you want to do.

Anteater has a list of requirements on firepunks site iirc.

ok so i won't need the pcm from anything but i will need the 99 ecm from the dodge to run the 01 motor and the rest of the truck, and i will need the FP controller for the trans. right?

Pcm controls the dash. If you are gutting it there is no reason to use anything dodge other than what the anteater wants. Which would require a simple harness.
