another guy with a truck
im thinking about buying and 85 ford the guy says he just rebuilt the engine a few years back and parked it because he couldnt afford the fuel. says he did nothin performance wise to it but he said he used a 7.3 block and everything else was 6.9 parts. my question is is this possible or is this guy blowing smoke up my ass? i know nothing about the 6.9 or 7.3 but he only wants 500 for the truck

haha so is he lying? like i said no clue about these engines just figured if it was a good deal id get it

Maybe he's not. You gotta ask him some more questions. The only real differences between the 6.9 and 7.3 IDI are the cylinder bore and the headbolt size. The 7.3 is simply a bored out 6.9. The stroke is the same. The 6.9 has 7/16 headbolts and the 7.3 uses 1/2 inch. The crank, rods, wrist pins, cam, lifters, push rods, valves, valve springs, intake and exhasut manifolds, oil cooler are all the same.

He may have mixed/matched parts to get one running IDI.
