Efi live newb question

Know how partitions work in a computer hard drive? its similar to that. EFI sets up partitions that can be changed in an instant via a voltage reading or serial data input.

The main partition called the "base" contains every map and table in the tune. the secondary partitions only contain tables to control Boost, Fueling, torque limiting, thorttle control, and timing.

to give you an idea of the depth involved in a base slot compared to a switchable slot there are about 160 tables that pertain to engine management in a base or standard tune. In a switchable folder there are only about 10.

also, that 160 in the base doesn't include the diagnostics and theft tables

Duramax ecms have the ability to be upgraded to a switchable operating system. A switchable operating system allows multiple fuel control table to be programed which are chosen base on voltage input from a switch (DSP2/DSP5) to a pin on the ecm.

im on the same wavelength as outlaw...

I dont think the 80% TPS tune (or whatever we want to call it) is necissary when we now know that the V2 software has the ability to make as much, if not more, power than a box tuner. AND more importantly, it can do it with almost no smoke, better turbo spool up and more drive ability than you run-of-the-mill programmer.

So why not build your tune with paremeters allowing max power while still offering better driveability (smoother pedal, less smoke) than people are currnelty seeing? oh wait, its already being done ;)
