I'm pretty sure that stinky mo fo just delivered our tools up here in Canada. Same rig, everything. Day late, probably because that POS Volvo broke down.

Grain truck that the headlights would flash every time you turned the left turn signal on.
Who knows how long it has been like that.

One of my drivers call last Thursday late afternoon, saying there's coolant blowing on his windshield...
🙄
Route him in Friday, put him in a spare then rip his truck down yesterday afternoon. While the rings and liners look good, the block wasn't properly addressed during the last overhaul looks like and, what im assuming is their ignorance, is rearing its ugly head.
#6 liner dropped, blowing the HG and started pressurizing the coolant system.

My place sits about 100 yards off the road. It’s funny how many people have asked me what year my “Kenworth” is. Even funnier is to watch their face when I tell em it’s a Freightliner.

How did the liner drop? Was the surface not prepared properly and the liner protrusion wasn't correct?

The last pic on my post is of the deck surface at #6. You can see the erosion where the liner sets on the block, letting the liner sink.
I didn't get any rebuild paperwork on this truck but the parts look relatively newish, im confident the block needed cut during the last overhaul.

When they do a counter bore in the block, do you order liners with thicker lips at the top?

No sir, liners are all the same. There are selectable shims that go in the groove cut to set protrusion.

I guarantee that yours messes with people. Don’t see many FLC’s, (at least not around here), and most of them are ragged out. That’s a great looking FLC. Do you work it any, or is it more of a toy?

Thanks for the info. I'm wanting a truck with a 3406 in it pretty bad. Just a toy though.

Have any of you guys ever done a day cab conversion on a 2000 vintage KW aero cab? How involved is the project?
What is the market like for a full areodyne bunk? What is the bunk worth (full leather VIT interior, clean)?

Not an awesome job, when you remove the sleeper the cab will flip forward and make you pee a little. Cab mounts on sleeper cab are under the doors where daycab is ahead. Local shop has done a few and said the sleeper isn’t easy to get off. Also advised not to buy the discount ones online. Order from dealer because they come ready to paint, the aftermarket took a lot of sanding and filling to get to look good. The savings wasn’t there unless you work for free. I think the conversion kit was like $8,000 and most sleepers have no value unless it’s the small 36”. Haven’t tried to sell a KW sleeper but a 72” Ultra Pete sleeper is maybe worth $1k where the small one I got $9k out of.
