2.6 vs 3

Anyone have any input on power differences in a 2.6 map and a 3" smooth?

Let's just say on an s400 with a 96 turbine and t6 1.32 housing.

Thanks

2.6map will make more power damn near every time. Depends on the combo as to the difference in power but can be as little as 30hp and as much as 100hp. These are crank power numbers on a dmax also. The power curves are also a lot narrower with the smoothbore turbo.

Smooth bore turbos seem to like to make more power down low and like to be lugged down. Where as a map grove seemed to make more power in the upper rpm range.. like stated above a 2.6 map will make more power then a 3.0 any day.

^^^ what travis said is very true. SB turbos have gotten alot better the last year or so.. it really depends on full setup, from valve flow to over all cfm of the head.
