New Member.

Glad I was directed to this page. In the next month or so I will be doing a Cummins Swap on my 03 Ford F350. If there are any pointers. I have an open mind and willing to take any advice into consideration.

Destroked and Diesel Conversion Specialists (DCS) both sell conversion parts/kits. I used DCS parts on my truck and they have worked well. I know several other guys on this site have used Destroked parts and have been happy with them as well.

I have looked at both websites and they both seem to be very well put together kits. I'm still up in the air as to which transmission I should go with.

If manual: ZF6
If auto: seems like most people liked the tuning compatability of the 4r100. I believe they may have the tuning bugs worked out of the 5r110 now. Somebody with more auto trans experience could tell you more than me.

Lots of info in the conversion section of this forum. Start searching around if you haven't already.

Something else to consider is the trans tunnel in your cab. If the truck was factory auto then a zf6 will not fit without reshaping the tunnel. The zf6 is taller than the auto and two different trans tunnels were used from the factory. An NV4500 from a Dodge truck will fit in either tunnel. I'd still rather have the ZF6 than the NV4500 though.

My truck is an automatic, I have also considered putting a Allison transmission in it as well.
