Shell LM24 tested.

I finally got a chance to try a mixture of Shell LM24 racing diesel on the dyno. I normally run #2 + 1 gallon of B99 + 1/2 bottle of Stanadyne per tank. I put the truck on the dyno with 1/2 tank of fuel and made 1083/1637. We then added 10 gallons of LM24 and let it circulate with the FASS on for 10 minutes. Made another run and got 1069.89/1607.67. So for 2.5 times the money you get to lose about 1% of your HP. It does burn a bit cleaner and smells different, but that appears to be about it. So it does not stand up to it's claims, of course the slick wording that says it needs to be "tuned properly" takes care of their liability. I'll finish burning it this winter and spring unless I see problems from it.

oh this is another situation that has to be tuned to not show a loss.. ive seen those before..
thanks for sharing

What? What kinda timing do you run? How big is your tank?

I was just a bit below 1/2 tank((35 gallon tank). Probably between 15 and 20 gallons left. Added 10 gallons of L24 so it's probably a 35 to 40% mix. I was running 28deg of timing.
