The driver's side motor mount scares me a little... No way to have taken that mount and gone lower against the frame rail? That would give you the triangulation you need.

I looked at a lot of other peoples mounts and surprisingly there are a lot made that way out of 3/16 plate. I kept it as close to center as possible since I still have to fit the gear box in beside the mount. I used 1/4" plate and it is gusseted on top and bottom. nothing moved when I put the full weight of the motor on the mount. I looked at pages and pages of pics of the way people mounted their 4b and this angle was used a lot. surprisingly some even mounted by only the front of the block and at the tail of the trans putting a lot of strain on the bell housing and bolts.

I didn't realize it was gusseted underneath too. I'd say you're plenty good.

People mounting powertrains like that are asking a LOT of their mounts. There's a ton of twist that needs to be soaked up and the wider the better. I'm glad you went with this style

What's next on your plate?

thanks! I did a lot of thinking before I started on it. I want it to be stronger than needed. rebuild the 4b
power steering
front disc brakes
rebuild rear shackles
gauges
steering column
seats
more POR15
a few small rust holes to fix in the cab still
tapered roller bearings on front axle
rebuild front leaf shackles
bondo
A LOT....

hitch off an 03 ford f250 was modified and mounted, it will be reinforced before final assembly. I didn't want to add any metal supports to the hitch before I got the fuel tank mounted so there were no spacing issues. got the poly fuel tank mounted as well. next is ps gear box and finishing up the rebuilding the rear drum brakes.

Going to keep it stock for now. May upgrade to an hx30 in the future if i can find one for a decent price so i can ditch the baby h1c. I am shooting for mpg out of the 4b as my dd.

bit of an update. cab is in epoxy primer, back of cab, interior, firewall and the entire underside is all sprayed with 3 coats bedliner and por 15 paint. the bed was too far gone to save so I decided to build one to look as close to stock as I could make it. $2400 to buy a reproduction bed and I have 6 hrs and $320 in the metal to make my own. I am tickled with how it turned out. side rail pipes didn't turn out like I planned but I like the look. the bed with be sprayed with bedliner to seal the joint. going to build the front piece tonight and start on the floor.
