08 Cummins g56 breaking adapter plates

08 Cummins g56 breaking adapter plates
Hey guys. Sick of the g56. This is the 3rd broke adapter plate 2 different transmissions 2 different clutches. 2 different motors. All motor mounts and trans mounts are all good.

I noticed I had a bad front u joint this morning. Had my brother push the clutch in to roll the truck back a bit. Noticed the trans moved. got to looking the adapter plate is busted again. This truck does no sled pulling no racing. Every once in a while it pulls my 5th wheel or a car trailer and a goose neck.

I'm really tempted to swap either back to the nv5600 with the vail air clutch. I never broke an adapter plate with the 5600. I had in it. Or swap to a 48re. But my 2nd gen 12v with a g56 and the same clutch hasn't broke one.

Any one have any ideas. Let's hear it

My sig in not correct on the trans. I had to swap back to the g56. The 5600 lost the input bearing. Just wanted to clear the confusion. Thanks ahead of time.

Doesn't say much, but I've never seen this. There has to be a problem somewhere. I don't think you can blame it on the trans if you're on the second trans.

Check thrust on the crank.

Mark.

That is true. I like the tranny I have it behind my 12v as well same clutch. But breaking these adapters is killing me I don't know what to do.

All the mounts seem to be in good shape not ripped or loose. Surely 6" of lift isn't to much on the drive shaft angles is it? Meaning the tcase to needing to be clocked or anything.

I just know there's guys running around making way more power and when there is failure it's behind the adapter.

I understand what you mean Mark. But this is 2 different motors. The first one broke aroun 78k. The second motor was at 120k. Not saying they couldn't have a lot of thrust. But just 2 different motors same thing

Lots of lugging? Just seems odd you have lost a lot of equipment

When this issues started it was 35 12.50 20. Now I run. 37 13.50 20.

On average I would say I shift around 1500-2200 ish. We all know we get them sudden urges and go more but not constantly.

The reason on the engine swap that was thanks to djean automotive Beaumont tx. (Long story there should have hired an attorney).

They was so good with an orbital sander they can deck your block like that. Well turns out it's not flat anymore. Blew multiple head gaskets after. Then I got a really good deal on a 90k complete motor.

So I swapped the motor detuned it. And left the silver 66 turbo and that's it.

I would physically measure crank thrust. It shouldn't be breaking adapter plates.
