I've heard of people spinning 3L Mercedes om606 at 7000, but 9500?! That thing sounds wicked.

I would build one in a junior dragster if I could find enough info on the fueling upgrades for these engines. I've done some research but hit dead ends, most guys are hush hush on where to send off the pumps & injectors

Try Giles, I'm not sure if he does build the A pump but it never hurts to ask given his reputation with the 4 cylinder pumps..

Andy2 on here runs the famous white 450+hp VW Golf 1.9L TDI from youtube. Runs north of 9000 rpm. He was explaining his build on the Bodacious thread. I met him in person a couple years ago at Scheids.

Here is a vid of him at the track hitting 9000 rpm.

High rpm TDI - YouTube

He would be the guy to ask about this stuff, very knowledgeable guy on the subject.

Some of them use a 4 cylinder p7100 for the injection pump.

I'm in the process of building a chassis based on the rules for the this class for my niece. But it will be electric so I have more control over rpm, speed, and braking as she is only 3. It shouldn't have any problem pulling around a pulling truck or tractor.

It will be 1206 farmall sheetmetal.
31x15.5 pioneer pullers for the rear
15x15 real wheels
Aluminum wedge frame
Aluminum 9inch housing
Aluminum planetaries
5kw dc brushless motor
48v 136ah 6.5kw battery pack built out of panisonic 18650 cells

For anyone interested in the rules for the class in the videos above.

http://www.tractorpulling.com

You go to tech and safety on the left side of the page. Then click garden puller rulebook. This class is called compact diesel.

Hang in there. lol Fueling isn't a huge issue. Getting enough fuel with the smaller A-Pump is where things become issue'y. I'm gonna have two of the A pumps built. I was told to fire it up in the staging lanes to build heat. Fire it up again to make a pass and shut it down immediately after the run. Something tells me we may be pushing these pumps to the limit.

From what I know (this should be quick huh??lol), the A-pump can obviously be built to turn the r's. Getting the acceptable fuel rate and keeping the pumps alive is where the issues begin to show themselves. Right now, we are close to the cc output but the rack keeps sticking at the higher rpms. I guess the pump cam looks like a profile of a Christmas tree.

A little bird told me the other day that deleting the governor will get us to our new 9,500 RPM goal. I have never been around a pump without a governor.

Andy2 is the man to talk to. He is doing some really neat stuff with 6 cylinder P-pump mounted on the little 1.9. The pump is dang near half the sized of the engine.
