T4 primary
Anybody ran a T4 primary on a VE? Turbo in question is a GT4088 VGT (66 comp)
I know the BD tow twins will support 550-600 on a CR, will it take a VE to low mid 400s and remain fairly cool?
Truck is mainly a DD toy

I’m confused. Are you going to run compounds with the 351cw over the GT4088?
Or the GT4088 as single? Which is why you’re asking if anyone’s run a T4 and had success.
What sort of supporting fuel mods have you done?

That is what I'm thinking yes.
Fueling maxed 12mm VE 366 spring, 6x13 sac, piston pump unregulated (ve front seal loctited) 3/8 lines, Cat filters/bases and sump

I am by no means the expert for sizing compounds, at all. Though with the VE being RPM and fuel limited, it seems many others have been very happy with smaller compounds on these engines. The VE pump pulls well at lower RPM and makes some very nice torque, considering. A compound turbo arrangement to complement this would equal happy driver.
What turbo are you currently running on this engine?

HE351cw with opened up wg. It is awesome around town, pretty much blows the tire off on command but I feel I could use some more air on top.

a gt4088 flows marginally more than an he351cw. you'd probably make LESS power than with a single he351(crazy, I know). if any gains at all, they would not be worth the time/money spent on the "upgrade"
an hx35 is the best secondary on a VE truck. pair it with a gt4094, s472, k31 and you'll have a nice setup.

I should have said GTB4088BKV. Not GT4088(which I didn't know existed)

ya, all of my previous statements remain the same. gt4094 or gt4202 would be my Garrett choices for a primary on a VE motor. i'd still rather have an s400.

If you want a GTA4294 in the T6 option send me a PM, have a NOS one sitting here collecting dust.... Math wise it’s a really good option for a 351 and the all mighty VE.....

As would I. Not partial to Garrett whatsoever.

Buddy's truck runs a 58mm over a box 366 T4, he's run 11.20's in the 1/4 with it and the math says 680hp at his weight. It's a p pump truck but the set spool rediculesly fast. I bet that set would work well on a mild ve.

so basically you came here asking for confirmation of what you've already decided? not so much advice
I would encourage you to read up on the math of compounding turbos. that garrett turbo you're considering using flows about 6 lbs/min more than an HE351cw. you're talking 10%. you'll have more pumping loss than that going with compounds. you'll make more power with the he351cw as a single.

and those turbos are probably more well suited, mathematically, than an he351 and this gt4088.
hx on the manifold? flows maybe 55 lbs/min? and an s366 about 80 lbs/min? mathematically, that works much better

I have never seen a hx35 out power or out spool a he351cw. I also do not see the need to complicate the setup by using a marginally better vgt turbo.

This right here.
I have a HE351 and a GT4294 with a 1.10 housing (don’t remember exactly) sitting on the shelf for a future compound build. A member advised me on this setup many moons ago for a good towing arrangement. It’s either going on my 91 or the 05. Not sure yet.

Thanks everyone.
I'll do more research on flow #s, wasn't something I took into consideration. Obviously looking merely at size isn't doing me much good.
Can find maps for the ~63mm 4088 but not this 66 VGT
Likely just part ways with the turbo, may make a decent single for someone.

Just the old box 366/73/.91 t4 housing. You can buy them new for around $700.
