SPI 2.6 rule changes

Figured we should get a thread going on the rules where our group can only really see it and talk about it amungst ourselves. That being said there's alot of rule suggestions from going smooth bore, to ODL, to droping a tire and hitch height. Where does everyone else stand with these? Here's the place to talk about it before the banquet

As much as I want to go with a drop box and semi truck rears, its already hard enough for the workstock guys to jump up to 2.6. Might be worth sticking to 1 ton driveline, at least for a little while.

My guess would be to stay with Ppl rules to allow anyone who wants to come, pull with them

Just my opinion but you guys aren't really ready to follow suit with PPL. Not until at least you have a stable following of trucks. Besides the tracks you guys run on don't warrant a ODL truck. At least the vids i've seen of pulls up there. I would not put a ODL 2.6 in yet. How many trucks up there follow PPL rules? I would go with the charger if anything and see how things go. You maybe loosing some Hp from where your at and find there is no need for it anyways

Currerntly, we all follow PPL rules, other than the current turbo rules which still allow bushings. There are usually about 15ish "true" 2.6 trucks at each pull

Are you guys seriously talking about ODL? Most tracks we pull on are loose enough to where your not destroying drive line parts every weekend. Just cant grasp my head around why you guys would want to go and spend a **** ton of money on ODL when its not needed in our area. And its nothing against SPI or our group, but why are ppl guys gonna come up to our pulls when they pretty much have a pull every weekend with a good organization and tracks.

Our group we have going is very good and lets keep it that way. If i was 2.6 id vote for one ton driveline and look to improve the class elsewhere. Just my .02

No offense man, but when there is consistently a 15 truck class, and there is consistently 1-2 2.5 workstock/2.5 trucks in the top 10 ( and even top 5) , I think status quo is going to be better for growth than trying to keep up with what another more prominent part of the country is doing.

When and where is the spi rule meeting? I finished my truck late this summer and made a few local fairs but plan on joining spi this comming spring as a 2.6 truck..

well I don't think ODL is a big deal either way if you don't have the money for it than leave it the way it is like Jeremy said its not gonna make a difference either way your not gonna benefit from ODL up here the only benefit I can see is that my truck would be able to show up or any other 3.0 guys going to 2.6 PPL rules if that actually happends other than that just leave your truck the way it is
also there are no ODL trucks here anyways

Open rear axle. Doesn't mean that everyone has to do it, but those who need it can. There becomes a point where the Dana 80 just can't take the ring deflection. Load bolt or not.

I would assume that because of the 2.6 bore and the added area of the map grove that the turbo manufactures play with that the total area of a 2.6 + map grove is greater than a 3.0 smooth bore charger

I have been trying to get some flow numbers on 2.6 to 3.0 smooth bore. But I do believe your right there should be around 3.400-3.600 of bore area in the current turbos if my math is correct. I hope it at least keeps horsepower the same. I think you will see them choke out /snuff sooner with some of the larger turbos out there now
