Cummins Tow Tune feedback

Email received today from a Cummins tuning customer. Sent out tuning for over a dozen common rails today. Builds all across the board. Will be fine tuning and adjusting for each set-up and building a data base.

"You can't see me right now, but I have a big grin on my face. I'm am really impressed. This tow tune actually moves out pretty good! I even killed an LB7 on a 50 mph roll (I'm sure he wasn't running one of your tunes). I'm making a couple more #'s of boost than I was with a 200 hp Smarty tune and I could not get the EGTs over 1200 (I was trying pretty hard). The EGTs are lower than a stock tune. Turbo spools nicely. Throttle is much more linear than the xxx brand. It really feels like a stock truck until you mash the pedal. I'm headed to the track Saturday night so we'll see what this tow tune can do. I can't wait to try some of your race tunes."

Rob I am getting off early just to install and make some test runs. (Can't sleep to excited, feels like I downed a 6 pack of energy drink)

That's a hell of a post on the tow-tune! Hope I get the same results.I'm sure I will !

Performance tunes are out to customers for built set-ups and good feedback coming in.

Standard transmission truck below, we are working on the lower gear limiters

"The power comes on real smooth, with very little smoke (wich I like)
rev limmiter comes on around 2800 in 1st to 2nd gear shift
rev limiter comes on around 3300 in 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear shift
but once in 4th gear RPM runs good
EGT never got above 1250
made about 48lbs of boost"

Rob just installed the tow-tune did a 2 block. Take off is smooth, power come up nice and is very street-able with great control with the foot pedal. Not bad for a cold motor thats fully up to temp. Next is highway at full temp tomorrow. (Check back in Friday)

Too much timing? The timing tables are not scaled like you believe they are. You would amazed how low the timing truly is

Yeah, these tunes are good... real good. Rob and Monte are working some long hours getting them dialed in and it is greatly appreciated. There's been a couple of times I've gotten emails after 11 pm to midnight with new tweaks to try!

Some more feedback from a customer with big injectors and twins.

Rob, you are amazing. The tow tune blows very, very little smoke under normal acceleration and just a little bit more with full throttle and completely goes away once boost reaches 30psi. I cant wait to hook up to my 40', 16,000lb tow hauler and see what it is really capable of.

Ok on to the good stuff. The performance tune is unbelievable. It launches like a rocket with lots of smoke at first then clears up again at 30psi. EGT's never got over 1300deg. Made 55lb of boost. and a huge smile from ear to ear. Thanks Rob.

This from the owner of a large well known diesel shop that was running a box tuner for years and now running EFI on his personal Cummins.

"I like this tune alot I almost dumped the truck now I am keeping it for a daily driver all the time!!!"

And another one that is pulling a huge 16,000lb+ toy hauler on a family vacation with a modded (big injector) dually;

"The truck has never ran this smooth pulling this trailer. I set the cruise on 70 and let it go. EGT's stayed at 900 deg, boost at 15 psi. When it climbed a hill EGT's went to 1150 deg and boost went to 38 psi and speed dropped to 69.5 mph. The power came on real easy, no harsh power band feel. I would get some gray smoke would come out of the stacks and just a light haze would come out when it climbed hills. The fuel mileage stayed about the same, right around 8 mpg. The xxxxxx (on level 2) would give good power with harsh takeoff's and a lot of black smoke. I am very impressed with this tune. I can't wait to try the other tune. I think my wife and kids may be a little upset if I ended our trip early just to see how the truck pulls the trailer. Lol"
